#5 - A New Mountie in Town
Whether in uniform or plain clothes, we cannot resist the charms of this man!
Nathan Grant (Kevin McGarry) made his debut on "When Calls the Heart" in Season 6 Episode 4, “Heart of a Mountie.” Definitely the strong silent type, his arrival is unexpected as the stranger with swagger gets in the middle of a bar brawl. After he is taken to jail by Bill (Jack Wagner), he reveals himself as the new lawman in town. He is Hope Valley's new Mountie.
#4 – Nathan Adopts Allie
Nathan is a handsome father figure whose love for his niece melts our hearts.
Nathan is not only the protector of Hope Valley, he is the guardian of his niece Allie. After her father skips town again, Nathan makes a decision to officially adopt Allie in Season 8 Episode 1, “Open Season." He gives her the good news while walking to school. It is a sweet moment as Nathan is stepping up to keep Allie safe. Allie is excited her uncle - a great role model - is becoming a bigger part of her life.
#3 – Matters of the Heart
Nathan speaks from his heart.
In Season 7 Episode 9, “New Possibilities,” Nathan admits how much Elizabeth and her safety matters to him. He is prompted to come clean after witnessing the courage Elizabeth displayed protecting her students during a terrible storm.
#2 – Shot to the Heart
Nathan's close call with a bullet reminded us all how much we care about him.
Elizabeth wonders who got shot when Bill storms into town making way for a patient with a gunshot wound, and a resident says it's Nathan in Season 7 Episode 10, “Don’t Go.” Elizabeth runs out in time to see Carson (Paul Greene) announce the patient’s death. The town is stunned – poor Nathan.
As Elizabeth reels from the news, Nathan appears behind her. She turns and runs into his arms showing just how glad we all were Nathan is okay.
#1 - More Than Friends
Nathan tries to break out of the friend zone by saying "I Love You."
In Season 8 Episode 2, “Honestly, Elizabeth,” Nathan makes it clear to Elizabeth he wants to be more than friends. He tells her, “I love you.” Not sure what to do or say, Elizabeth jumps on her horse and rides away. Many of us would have stayed to find out what happens next.
