Beer Can Chicken - Home & Family

Beer Can Chicken

David Codney of The Peninsula Beverly Hills is in the kitchen making a delicious beer can chicken with a homemade rub. Before getting started, make sure you purchase a dry chicken at the store, which means there is no added moisture. The drier the chicken, the crispier the skin when you cook it. After seasoning the chicken, he places it in the refrigerator overnight for the most flavor. He also makes a homemade white BBQ sauce and pairs the dish with a pickled watermelon salad.

Confetti Italian Cookies - Home & Family

Confetti Italian Cookies

Pastry chef Tina Zaccardi is baking a tasty batch of Italian cookies with a homemade chocolate buttercream. Before getting started, she talks about winning season four of “The Great American Baking Show Holiday Edition.” Today’s cookies stand out because she makes her own almond paste. If you are making your own almond paste, she recommends using a food processor to make it as smooth as possible. She suggests using cake flour for that birthday cake flavor. If you don’t have time to make your own buttercream frosting, canned frosting will always work, too.

Retro Pork Chops and Apples - Home & Family

Retro Pork Chops and Apples

Author of “Hungry Girl Simply 6,” Lisa Lillien is making a mouth-watering dish of pork chops with apples. Her latest cookbook is filled with recipes that have only six all-natural ingredients or fewer. Season the pork chops with salt and pepper and sear for three minutes a side to get them cooked all the way through. The best part is pork is such a lean meat once you trim the fat. She sauteés the apples and onions with whole grain mustard for texture and flavor, along with apple cider vinegar, which will help soften the onions. Then add to the top of pork chops and serve.
