Rosemary observes as Mike hangs up a poster promoting a movie screening for “The Mark of Zorro” at the saloon. Lucas walks by and comments that moving pictures are the way of the future. Rosemary hears this and excitedly snatches the poster and rushes off. She brings it to Lee and tells him that she wants to make a moving picture and wants the entire town to be involved. Elizabeth is tasked with writing the story but is having trouble finding inspiration.
Elizabeth presents her ideas to Lee and Rosemary, but her concepts don’t seem to excite them. Opal walks in, as she is keeping the project on budget. Elizabeth shares more ideas, but the most interesting ones are also shot down by Opal for being too expensive. Rosemary and Lee give her more words of motivation and ask for her to come up with something great by tomorrow. Elizabeth swiftly leaves to get started.
Nathan finds Elizabeth while she is working on her scriptwriting. She asks him about how his wounds are healing, to which he says they are great. When Elizabeth informs him that she is writing a love story between a mountie named Apollo and a schoolteacher named Millie, he jokes that that would never happen. She asks him to help her write more about the Mountie’s investigation scenes, but he insists that the real thing is too boring to write about. They agree to meet in the morning so he can help.
At the mountie station, Bill, Nathan, and Henry are still trying to locate Christopher. There are no new leads, so Bill decides to enlist Georgie to help look for more legal leads before the trail against Pioneer Electric goes cold. Nathan sends out another high-priority missing person notice.
Elizabeth brings her script to Rosemary, who absolutely loves it. Rosemary wants Elizabeth and Nathan to be the lead actors, while Elizabeth is hesitant to agree. Elizabeth seems somewhat open to the possibility but doesn’t know how she is going to convince Nathan.
Edie and Georgie walk through town, pondering about the trial. Georgie is impressed by Edie and informs her of a work opportunity in Union City. Edie tells Georgie she is happy in Hope Valley but takes a business card.
Elizabeth goes to the stable to pitch Nathan about being her co-star. He agrees after she mentions that she, as Millie, would have to kiss Apollo.
Nathan receives a call that Christopher was seen at Highland Pub, but they are skeptical that they will be able to catch up to him. Georgie investigates the map that Christopher gave them and notices that it isn’t signed, which most mapmakers do. She recognizes the style of the compass and concludes that the mapmaker is a man named Clement Scoggins. She also informs Bill and Nathan that if the case settles as arson, National Insurance is obligated to pay out much less than if it were corporate negligence. The case now may be a much larger conspiracy, and Nathan suggests they gather as much evidence as they can. Georgie also offers to help since she has lots of connections from being a forensic investigator.
Edie talks to Mei and Faith about her frustrations with Lucas being standoffish due to Fernando’s presence. The conversation is interrupted by Fernando himself, who brings flowers for all the ladies. He tells them that he is in charge of lighting for the movie. Fernando then proceeds to dance with one of the prop dresses, and Lucas watches over as everyone applauds his performance. Once he departs, Edie clarifies that his charm doesn’t work on her anymore.
Florence hands Molly her mail but is confused about why one of the letters is unmarked. Ned walks in and excitedly announces to Florence that he is going to be the villain in the movie. She is excited for him but is still concerned that Molly may be keeping a secret.
Georgie returns to the Mountie station with Clement Scoggins’ bank records. They find a suspiciously large payment of $500 from Pioneer Electric for the map. While it’s a good lead, they still want evidence. Bill and Nathan suggest that Georgie should go undercover to find out more.
Georgie sets up a meeting at the saloon with Clement. Once he arrives, Georgie mentions that she has a financial client that wants some maps made and asks what his rates are. He shares them as around $25, and Nathan immediately interrupts to question him about the $500 payment from Pioneer Electric. After discovering he is not yet under arrest due to a lack of evidence, Clement leaves.
The town is gearing up to start shooting the movie. Rosemary finds Elizabeth and hands her an updated script. Elizabeth is surprised with the changes and even notices that her character’s name has been changed to Octavia. Nathan and Elizabeth laugh as they watch Rosemary running around directing.
Bill and Georgie are sitting in front of the phone, hoping to find out more about Clement’s involvement. As they are reminiscing, the line suddenly connects to Clement calling Mr. Whittaker, the head of Pioneer Electric. Georgie and Bill listen in as he says, “They are on to us.” Whittaker tells Clement to keep quiet because someone could be listening before hanging up. Bill tells Georgie that while Clement didn’t specifically admit to collusion, it’s a strong lead. Bill tells Georgie that he’s realized how much he missed her and admits he didn’t ask her to come back to Hope Valley just to help with insurance claims. She tells him that’s not the only reason she came back.
On set, Edie confronts Fernando about his reasons for being in Hope Valley. He claims he is only there for work but feels that with the two of them there together, it’s fate. She claims that she is not interested in him anymore and Fernando tells her that Lucas is a lucky man. She gives him a goodbye kiss on the cheek, which Lucas sees from a distance.
The movie shoot begins. On the first take, Elizabeth and Nathan bonk heads while going in for a kiss. On the second take, Nathan enters the scene awkwardly, staring right at the camera. Rosemary stops the take and instructs them to act like the camera isn’t there. Once again, the third take goes awry, and Rosemary tells everyone to take a break. Rosemary goes up to Elizabeth and Nathan and tells them she thinks it’s not working because they are “too real.” Elizabeth can tell Rosemary is trying to find a nice way to fire them. They both emphasize that they didn’t want to be the leads in the first place. Lee and Opal ask Rosemary who she is going to cast, and Rosemary sees Fernando working.
The whole town watches over in awe as they continue shooting, this time with Fernando and Faith as the leads. Once Rosemary calls cut, the whole town applauds. As they gear up for the next scene, Rosemary thanks Elizabeth for being understanding.
Edie finds Lucas at his office and asks him to go for a drink. Lucas tells Edie that he saw her with Fernando earlier, but she clarifies there is nothing between them. Lucas believes her but is still hesitant because of his past experiences. When he asks for time, Edie understands but is still visibly upset.
At the saloon, Bill updates Nathan about the phone call that he and Georgie overheard. They were able to get the call transcribed, so it will be admissible in court.
Molly walks into the saloon and sees Florence sitting with a man. She is shocked and thinks Florence is sneaking around, but then realizes it’s just Ned, who is still wearing a hairpiece from his movie costume. Florence confronts Molly about her secret, and Molly reveals that she was taking nursing courses. Molly apologizes and explains she was just nervous about how everything would go. Luckily, she just found out that she passed, and Ned and Florence are thrilled by the news that Molly is officially a nurse.
Edie walks into town with packed bags and looks at the business card that Georgie handed her earlier.
Lucas sits for a drink at the bar, and Mike checks in on him. He tells Mike about how his past heartbreak with Elizabeth is still affecting him. Mike reminds him that it was Lucas himself who told Mike to take a chance with Mei. Mike tells him to not let his past steal his future. Lucas asks Mike if he has seen Edie.
With her bags, Edie heads onto a car heading out of town.
Elizabeth and Nathan are on a walk, reflecting. They both acknowledge that even though it wasn’t great on camera, their chemistry is amazing. Nathan shares his frustration with the case, blaming himself for letting Christopher slip through his fingers. Elizabeth reminds him how hard he is working, and that the investigation isn’t over.
