As Elizabeth and Nathan enjoy a romantic horse ride, Nathan shares his frustration with how the fire investigation is going. Elizabeth reminds him to enjoy the amazing things around them.
Henry meets with Joseph to work on fixing a door at the schoolhouse. Henry asks Joseph what to do if someone you love does something horrible. Joseph tells Henry to forgive them if they repent. Joseph shares how it has been difficult to think that his son may have started the fire but emphasizes that it is important to stand beside your loved ones.
Lee tells Rosemary about a recurring dream he has been having where he is unable to reel in a fish. Rosemary tries to read into it as a bigger sign, but Lee doesn’t think it is relevant to anything going on in his life. Rosemary makes Lee promise to pull back on work and other things that may be stressing him out.
LJ tells Elizabeth, Nathan and Allie that he wants them to have dinner together every night. Bill overhears and jokes that he wants an invite. Elizabeth and Nathan take him up on it and invite him over, and he agrees.
Nathan pulls Bill aside to regroup on the investigation. The maps from the electric company don’t give them any more leads, and they are beginning to run out of possible outcomes other than the Toby and Cooper starting the fire.
A car arrives in town. A Mountie named Constable Elmore Briggs exits the car and introduces himself to Nathan and Bill. He is followed up by Georgie, who immediately greets Bill.
Allie runs into Oliver while grabbing baked goods, and Elizabeth observes with a smile as they flirt with each other.
Constable Briggs and Georgie have come into town with a polygraph machine to help with the investigation. Nathan suggests that Georgie join them to help calibrate the polygraph machine later.
While working, Lucas overhears furniture being moved in the other room. He finds Edie shuffling tables and offers to help. She is setting up for a charity poker night to help raise money for a new Benson Hills Recreation Center. Lucas volunteers to contribute money by participating in the tournament.
Dr. Carter arrives to the Coulter home to update Gwen about her father’s condition. Dr. Carter shares that Gwen’s father is no longer at risk of infection and can now have visitors at the hospital. Lee proposes they leave immediately to go visit him.
Lucas accidentally bumps into a man in the saloon. The man introduces himself as Fernando Arroyo, the new contractor hired by Coulter Construction for the Benson Hills rebuild. Lucas invites Fernando for a drink to go over what he has planned for the rebuild.
Lee and Gwen stop at a gas station on their way to visit her father. Gwen is holding a wooden bear stick she carved as a gift for her father. She tells Lee it isn’t smooth enough and begs him to turn back around. Lee ensures her dad will be happy to see her, but Gwen insists. Lee agrees and they head back.
At the polygraph calibration, Oliver is chosen to test out the machine. Constable Briggs lays out a few playing cards for Oliver and tells him to pick one, but to keep its identity to himself. Oliver is asked a few standard questions, including where he is born, to which he answers he doesn’t know. Briggs then asks Oliver about the cards and successfully guesses which one Oliver selected based on the polygraph reading. Nathan decides to invite Georgie for dinner in addition to Bill.
Henry meets with Christopher to confront him about the burnt cement he found. Henry warns Christopher that whatever his involvement may be, business isn’t more important than his humanity. Henry advises him to come clean to Constable Grant and unburden himself of whatever guilt he is holding. Henry walks out as Christopher holds back tears.
Lucas and Fernando wrap up a positive meeting about the plans for Benson Hills. Lucas asks Fernando to join him at the charity poker event. Fernando agrees and tells Lucas that he loves poker.
On their way back, Lee stops the car at a pond and asks Gwen to fish with him. Lee is impressed with Gwen’s fishing knowledge, which she credits her dad for teaching her. While they are fishing, Gwen opens about her mom passing away from illness, which is why she didn’t want to go to the hospital to see her dad. She is afraid her dad isn’t going to get better. Lee assures Gwen that her dad’s situation isn’t as serious and tells her how much it would cheer up her dad if they visited. Gwen’s line starts tugging and she reels in a fish. Gwen asks to see her dad before they return home, and Lee happily obliges.
Bill and Georgie arrive for dinner. The kids ask about the polygraph machine and Bill tells them about how good Georgie’s instinct is for reading people. Georgie gifts LJ some new crayons and Allie a brand-new pen.
Lee and Gwen arrive home after dark. Lee tells Rosemary about how amazing Gwen’s visit with her father was. Lee shows off the fish Gwen caught and Rosemary acknowledges it as a resolution from his dream. Lee then tells Rosemary that he wants to prioritize more one-on-one time with Goldie, which she thinks is a great idea.
After dinner and dessert, the kids head upstairs to get ready for bed. Georgie mentions that the polygraph has her thinking about how important honesty is in relationships. She shares that sometimes mystery is good for romance. Elizabeth proclaims that she and Nathan have no secrets. Bill laughs and argues that Nathan didn’t like the lemon curd that Elizabeth made for dessert, even though he was praising it. Nathan denies it, but Georgie agrees. Nathan still claims his innocence, so Georgie proposes putting Nathan on the polygraph. Despite his protests, everyone insists it’s a great idea. After asking him some opening questions, Constable Briggs shares that the polygraph reads that Nathan didn’t like the lemon curd, even though he said yes while on the machine. Nathan defends himself by saying he loves the lemon curd because Elizabeth makes it. LJ asks Nathan if he is going to marry his mom. While stumbling for the right words, Christopher barges in.
Fernando and Lucas arrive at the charity poker event. Fernando invites Lucas to join him at a race at a nearby speedway. Lucas agrees and asks to bring along a special lady, to which Fernando agrees. Lucas brings over Edie to introduce her, but Edie and Fernando already know each other. Lucas finds out that Edie and Fernando used to be engaged.
Christopher confesses to Bill and Nathan that he knows what started the fire. He shares that he was sent by his boss into the forest to clean up the remains of a transformer box that started the fire. The electric company created a fraudulent map to cover their tracks. Nathan and Bill thank Christopher for doing the right thing and ask him to show them where he buried the remains of the transformer. Christopher shares that he only came clean because his father found out.
Nathan and Bill arrive at the Canfield house, where Toby and his mother, as well as the Canfields are all gathered. They share the good news that the wildfire was not started by Toby and Cooper. They are ecstatic and grateful to know the truth.
Elizabeth meets with Rosemary and tells her about how LJ asked about Nathan and Elizabeth getting married, and how Nathan stuttered. Rosemary reassures her she has nothing to worry about.
Henry comforts Christopher as they share a drink outside.
Nathan finds Elizabeth to apologize about things being awkward after LJ asked about Nathan proposing to Elizabeth. Nathan reaffirms his love for Elizabeth and tells her how happy he is and asks if she is okay leaving it there for now. Elizabeth smiles and nods.
