Halloween Safety Tips with Dr. JJ Levenstein

Board certified pediatrician Dr. JJ Levenstein, MD, FAAP prepares parents, caregivers, and guardians for Halloween by equipping them with everything they need to know for a safe trick-or-treating experience. Dress kids in constumes that are flame retardant, comfortable, reflective, and that don't have tripping hazards. Be careful what materials you use when DIYing a costume. Dr. JJ warns us about the flammability of hand sanitizer and suggests patch testing face makeup beforehand in case your child has an allergic reaction. Refresh your kids on the rules of the road and make sure there is always adult supervision. Always bring a flashlight and cell phone when going house-to-house. To prevent your kids from getting a sugar rush from all the candy, feed them a good meal before so they aren't as hungry for treats and make sure they decompress when they return home.
