Saucer Magnolias
Shirley Bovshow is giving you professional tips on how to care for your saucer magnolia plants at home. Now is the best time to start planting these plants and you can find them in a variety of colors.
To Bring A “Spring Magnolia” Clipping Inside:
· Cut a clipping from your choice tree: a branch that has a lot of buds, but no flowers.
· Put it in a tub of cool water and soak it overnight.
· Drain the water.
· Use a sharp blade to make a fresh cut on the bottom of the branch and slit it about an inch high.
· Put it in a vase with lukewarm water and place it in a cool room that doesn't have a lot of bright light (around 60-70 degrees). This will coax the buds into opening. Change that water at least every 5 days.
*Within 1 to 2 weeks, the flowers will open!
