Brooke is dumped right before Christmas and enlists the help of actor Joel to play the role of her boyfriend for the holidays. Brooke had described her ex-boyfriend as “Mr. Christmas” to her family and worries about keeping up the ruse when she discovers Joel is Jewish. When her family eventually finds out his background, they happily incorporate his Hanukkah traditions into their plans. Christmas and Hanukkah are celebrated side by side as they all learn more about the other’s holiday. But when their relationship ruse comes to light, the two have some explaining to do as well as figure out if they’re ready to admit their true feelings. Starring Brittany Bristow and Matt Cohen.
A fresh layer of snow covers the ground around Sam’s new lake house. Trudging through the snow, Sam and Cassie walk back to the house after a brisk hike in the wilderness. The scene is a vivid reminder of Sam’s childhood vacations in Montana. As they enter the house Cassie’s eyes are immediately drawn to a group of paint swatches hung on the wall. Sam explains that he always likes to start fresh when he moves into a new space. Sam then asks Cassie about her thoughts on John’s offer to join him on the dig in the Maldives. Cassie knows that the job is a great opportunity for adventure and she is seriously considering the opportunity. Silence follows and as they stare at each other, Cassie tries to break the tension by talking about Sam’s paint swatches. With his eyes still fixed on Cassie, Sam pulls her to him and kisses her deeply. The kiss stuns Cassie and she can only muster a nervous smile.

Early in the morning, as Sam heads off to start his day, he stops at Cassie’s to grab the morning newspaper. The paperboy has a grudge against Sam and the visit gives him a chance to chat with Cassie. As they talk Sam’s phone rings. It’s another rep from Hillcrest hospital hoping to convince Sam to take the Chief of Staff job. While flattered by the job offer, Sam’s happy with his practice and the extra time he has to spend with Nick. Cassie is listening so intently that she doesn’t realize that she’s pouring water all over the front of the newspaper. As Cassie grabs a towel to clean the mess, both she and Sam notice the ad for a nearby lake house that just happens to be for sale.
