Paperwhites
Shirley Bovshow shows us how to take care of fragrant and bright Paperwhites. They are beautiful flowers related to the daffodil and they can grow in soil or water.
Instructions to plant in water
For Water Planting:
- You need a shallow bowl with gravel or pebbles.
- Place water-forced bulbs tip-end up, with the bottom of the bulb 1/8th to 1/4th of an inch from the water's surface.
- Add water.
- It’s the gravel and pebbles that help the bulb from being too submerged.
- Provide the right container, lighting and clean water and properly chilled bulbs can fill your home with their winter blasting color and form!
* To keep Paperwhites short, use alcohol in the water: Remove the water and add 1-part vodka to 7 parts water. You can also use short containers to help keep the flowers short and perfect for a centerpiece
