Mathison Family Lasagna
Cameron is joined by his mom, Loretta in the kitchen to make a Mathison family favorite, lasagna! She says this recipe is great because you can make extra and freeze it when done and serve up later in the week. The key is to cook the noodles el dente because they will continue to bake when you put the lasagna in the oven. She uses ground beef and pork sausage in her meat sauce. For a healthier version, she uses cottage cheese instead of ricotta cheese, which makes the dish fluffier.
Kate T. Parker
Author and photographer Kate T. Parker visits Home & Family to talk about her new book, “The Heart of a Boy.” The book is filled with a collection of photos of boys experiencing candid moments including being sensitive and emotional. She hopes her book teaches boys and girls to be kind to one another and embrace all types of emotions. In her first book, “Strong is the New Pretty,” she was inspired by taking photos of her daughters in their natural settings and capturing their most candid moments.
Bananas Foster Baked French Toast
Culinary Director of Taste of Home, Sarah Farmer is in the kitchen making a brunch favorite, bananas foster baked french toast. For an added crunch, she adds toasted pecans, which also gives the dish a nuttier flavor. For an extra tip, she recommends using partially ripe bananas, not green and not brown. When it comes to the french toast, she suggests using a heavily structured bread, like brioche because it will be soaking up the custard. Let the french toast soak overnight before baking the next morning.
