The Hallmark Channel original series "The Way Home" tells the story of three generations of women – Kat Landry (Chyler Leigh), her teen daughter Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) and Kat’s mother Del (Andie MacDowell) – who reunite and begin to heal from their family's past when their youngest member finds herself on an unexpected journey.

Episode #1 "Mothers & Daughters"
Kat and teen daughter Alice move in with estranged grandma Del. Escaping the tension, Alice explores the farm and finds herself on a surprising journey.
Must-See Moment #1:
Alice Time Travels for the First Time!
Fueled by frustration and resentment over being forced to move to a new town with her mother, Alice runs off into the forest that Del showed her when she first arrived. She discovers the pond and removes her bracelet, angrily throwing it in. She immediately regrets her actions. But when she leans over to try and retrieve it from the pond, she falls in.
Submerged under water, she panics, trapped beneath the surface. To her very surprise, she is soon rescued by a 15-year-old girl who introduces herself as Kat Landry. Alice is in shock; she recognizes teen Kat as her mother! On their way back to Kat’s house, they run into a teenage Elliot who is Kat's childhood best friend. Alice also sees Colton who is Kat's father.
Kat is presented with a book deal that asks her to dredge up terrible memories. Del wants to say goodbye to the past, while Alice yearns to return there.
Must-See Moment #2:
Alice Launches a Search for Answers
Alice decides to get clues to solve Jacob's disappearance on her own. Through her research, she gets only a glimpse of the past. At the Herald, she searches through old newspaper articles to find out what really happened to Jacob (her mother's young brother) who went missing years ago. She sees headlines: Local Boy Goes Missing, Police Have No Leads. She discovers pictures of his bike with police tape surrounding it. She tries putting the pieces together only to be interrupted by Del, who tells her it is time to leave now.
#Episode 3 “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing”
Alice falls in love with the past and has her first kiss. Kat starts a job at the local paper. Del deals with bittersweet memories attached to Colton's boat.
Must-See Moment #3:
Alice Returns to Music
In 1999, the family is gathered outdoors enjoying the sunset. Colton starts playing his guitar and asks Alice to join in. Although she’s reluctant, he tells her no one is going to judge her. She begins to play and sing. This unlocks her musical wonder, connecting her with her late grandfather while also becoming a pathway for her to understand her family.
Episode #4 “What's My Age Again?”
Alice double dates with her parents as teens. Kat's first visit to the past brings a surprising discovery. Del swallows her pride to ask for help.
Must-See Moment #4:
Adult Kat Sees Teen Kat
Kat jumps into the pond and floats back up in 1999. She witnesses teen Kat and Alice singing “Summer Girls” by LFO while playing the ukulele in the grass.
Kat is in pure shock watching her teenage self in conversation with her daughter Alice. They are trading stories about their summer relationships. Nothing could have prepared adult Kat for this moment.
Episode #5 “Don't Dream It's Over”
Kat chaperones a school dance and reconnects with Brady. Alice wants Nick to find her in the future. Del says goodbye to more memories as a landmark closes.

Adult Kat Time Travels and Sees Jacob
In 1999, Kat is left with a range of stirring emotions. She is fresh out the pond and comes face to face with her brother Jacob who has been missing for years. She takes in the unbelievable sight of him playing with his friend Danny in the woods. She tries to hide before they see her. When they spot her, they think she’s a witch and run off.
Episode #6 “Building a Mystery”
Kat and Alice try to stop Jacob's disappearance; Del realizes the tragedy of Jacob was not hers alone.
Must-See Moment #6:
Jacob's Friend Danny Tells the Truth
In 2023, Kat becomes suspicious of Danny. Kat and Del go visit him. When they arrive, Danny shares his side of the story with them. He mentions that he was with Jacob the day of the carnival when he went missing, right after he had just won a big stuffed dog.
They were having fun as usual, chasing each other. They ended up at the edge of a cliff where Danny took his stuffed dog and threw it into the ocean. Danny dared him to go get it. When Danny saw his parents coming, he ran off, leaving Jacob at the edge of the cliff, to never be seen again. Danny cries while sharing his story.
Episode #7 "The End of the World as We Know It"
Alice goes to a NYE Y2K party to support her friend. Kat finds a new mystery about her father, while Del reveals an old secret about him that's troubled her.
Must-See Moment #7:
Y2K Party Madness
At the New Year’s Eve party, Alice and Nick escape the party and head to the garage to chat. He gives her a fishhook bracelet because "she hooked him."
Nick convinces Alice to join him in a prank to shut the lights off at midnight in honor of Y2K. The countdown begins and when the clock strikes midnight Nick shuts off the lights. The party erupts in screams and laughter. Nick and Alice share a kiss.
When an old friend returns, Alice realizes her relationship has no future, and Kat is shocked by family secrets. Del tries to take a chance with Byron.
Must-See Moment #8:
Alice Breaks Up With Nick
In 2000, when teen Kat and Alice meet up with teen Elliot and teen Nick, Alice asks to speak with teen Nick alone. Alice makes the difficult decision to break up with him. When Alice does, he’s not surprised.
She returns the fish hook bracelet he gave her. Teen Kat and teen Elliot watch them, but Kat’s pager buzzing interrupts them. It’s Brady sending a code to let teen Kat know that he misses her.
#Episode 9 "The Day the Music Died"
Alice says goodbye to the past, knowing she needs to make a life in the present. Kat tries to stop her father's death. Del revisits memories in a new light.
Must-See Moment #9:
Kat Tries to Save Her Father
Later, Kat heads back to the pond to try to save Colton. She arrives back at the location where his truck crashed in 2000. Alice joins her there to plead with her to leave. As Alice tries to pull her mom back towards the pond, Colton’s truck approaches. He swerves to avoid hitting Alice and crashes into a pole. Kat holds Colton in her arms as he’s dying. They hear sirens and Alice pleads with her mom to leave. Kat and Alice don’t leave until after he has passed.
#Episode 10 Not All Who Wander Are Lost
Kat and Alice attend Colton's funeral. Del goes to the grief group and makes peace with her memory of Colton. Kat has a new theory about Jacob.
Must-See Moment #10:
Kat Recalls Walking Jacob Home at Night
Kat has a flashback of when she walked Jacob home the night he disappeared. Fynn’s ball in the present triggers the memory. Kat remembers a dog barking as Jacob reached the front door – it’s Fynn. He chases the dog through the fields to the pond and jumps in after him. She tells Alice Jacob followed Fynn into the pond the night she walked him home. Del joins their conversation and wonders what they’re discussing. Kat tells her she knows what happened to Jacob.
