Season 3 begins at the pond, where a man and woman jump in, leaving a baby behind in a basket nearby. Back in the present, Jacob is about to go inside the Landry home with Kat to greet Del. When they go inside, Jacob sees Del at the table and instantly gets a flashback of her at the table when Jacob was just a boy. When Jacob greets her, Del is shocked, and they reunite with a warm embrace. Jacob, Alice, Del and Kat all sit at the kitchen table, where Jacob recognizes Alice from when he was a child, and Kat explains that Alice is her daughter. They then explain to Del where Jacob went, how he returned, and the magic of the pond.

Back at Elliot’s house, Elliot is working on renovations when he finds a mysterious clock in the wall. Kat then barges in to tell him that Jacob has returned, and Elliot kisses Kat amidst the joy.

At the Landry home, Jacob is upstairs getting cleaned up when he has a flashback while shaving, this time of his father Colton shaving in the same mirror. The next morning, Alice brings up how she noticed that Casey is wearing a ring as a necklace that looks just like the engagement ring that Kat and Brady gave to her. Alice is implying that she believes Casey may be from the future. Kat tells her that she thinks that is not possible.

Downstairs, Jacob asks Del how Colton passed, and Elliot rushes inside, where he is reunited with Jacob. Del then gathers everyone at the table so that they can make a story that doesn’t include the pond to tell the town that Jacob has returned. Kat then appears on the news to explain that Jacob was found as a child on the shore by a couple that lives off the grid just outside of Port Haven. He had no memory of his identity, so they took him in, and only told him who he actually was on their deathbed.

Nine months later, Jacob is working on the farm. Del returns with the mail when she sees an envelope with her name on it and stuffs it in her pocket. At her work, Kat holds a printed copy of “The Founding of Port Haven,” with Susanna Augustine as the author. Back home, Del opens the envelope which says, “Your lie is known. Time will tell.” An imaginary Colton appears next to her, telling her that she has to tell someone, even the police, the truth about Jacob. She puts the envelope in a drawer with a group of similar looking letters, presumably from the same anonymous sender.

With Alice returning after spending the summer with her father Brady, Del suggests that Kat move into the basement so Alice can have her same room back. Eager to change the subject, Kat brings up that she wants Jacob to start helping her out at The Herald, and Del immediately states that she needs Jacob to continue working on the farm. Kat shares with Del that she thinks Jacob is being coddled, and that he needs to get back in the real world.

While looking through an old book of Colton’s, Kat accidentally spills wine on a blank page, uncovering a hidden message that says, “No curse is on The water, believe in magic, come to the pond.” This leads Kat to questioning whether Colton knew about the pond. Elliot proposes that maybe Kat should try to go back to 1814, since she misses Elijah and Susanna.

Highlight - Coyle's - The Way Home

The next morning, Alice returns to the Landry farm in a cab. Kat notices that on Alice’s guitar, which was originally Colton’s, that there is a sticker that says “Coyle’s” which happens to be Thomas’ last name. Del explains that The Point used to be called Coyle’s back in the ‘70s. Del goes out on the farm to bring Jacob lunch, where she assures him that she likes having him work on the farm and that he can take his time adjusting back to the present world.

Del and Alice go to the pond, and Alice tells her she used to talk to the pond and pretend like she was talking to her friends from the past, and that Kat should try to do the same. While talking to the pond, Alice tells Kat that she should go back. Kat jumps in. While Kat is gone, Elliot asks Alice if she would be okay if he asked Kat to move in with him, and Alice happily approves.

Back in the past, Kat goes to visit Elijah, who is banged up after being attacked by Cyrus’ men. He reveals that it’s only been five days in the past since Kat’s visit. Elijah explains to Kat why Jacob returned. Cyrus had turned over Jacob to the British, accusing him of smuggling and treason. So, Jacob fled to the pond to return to the present. Kat learns that Thomas has fled town and that it is not safe for her to be in the past, as Cyrus’ men are still after her.

Highlight - Susanna's Dream - The Way Home

Before she leaves, Kat visits Susanna, who immediately warns her of Cyrus just like Elijah did. Susanna tells Kat that, for her safety, she should never come back. Kat urges Susanna to write before rushing out to return home. Susanna pulls out a sketch with Kat in the same pose as the “My Katherine” painting.

As Kat arrives back at the pond, Thomas is waiting for her. He tells her that he meant everything that he said before and kisses Kat. She quickly pulls him away, telling him that they are over and there is somebody else in her life. Thomas understands, saying that he hopes that he is good to her. Kat jumps in the pond.

Back in the present, Jacob has a flashback, remembering that Colton found him exploring near the pond one day, and warned him to never go back there. Jacob then shares with Kat that he misses the feeling of having real responsibilities, and that while he is glad to be home, he feels worthless in the present. Del overhears this, and Kat comforts Jacob. She tells Jacob that she just went back to the past and told Elijah and Susanna that he is safe.

Everyone meets at Elliot’s for dinner, where Alice shares that she had an internship at a PR agency, and that she’s planning on pursuing a career in PR. Kat is concerned about Alice giving up on music. Del then brings out Colton’s old demo from 1974, and asks Elliot to play it. They all agree that he sounds amazing, and Del shares that he never made a full record. Alice sees a figure running outside the window, and goes to chase after it.

Del apologizes to Jacob for being so overprotective, and she agrees to give Jacob some space. She retreats to Sam for a romantic glass of wine back in the barn.

After everyone else has left Elliot’s, Kat tells Elliot that she went back to 1814. Elliot seems glad and puts Colton’s demo back on. A different song comes on this time, and it’s an original. This song is a duet, and the other voice is Alice’s.

Alice chases the figure all the way back to the pond, but she finds nothing except a sweater. Jacob has another flashback, remembering Colton telling him that he loves him, no matter what happens. Jacob starts questioning what Colton meant by “no matter what happens.” Jacob tells Kat that he thinks Colton knew about the pond. At the same time, Alice is at the pond trying to call Kat on the phone when she is suddenly pushed in
