Recap: Yes Sir, That's My Baby - Season 4 - Episode 6
Jacob saddles up and rides Stormy through the Landry farm. He finds Danny out working and asks if everything is good between them after everything that happened. Danny and Jacob agree it’s best to leave it in the past. Jacob shares his desire to start helping out on the farm again.
Kat is helping Alice get her stuff together before she heads to New York for school. Alice thanks Kat for agreeing to road-trip to New York instead of flying. Kat asks if Alice has heard from Elliot since they are supposed to have dinner. Alice says no, so Kat decides to call him.
Elliot’s phone rings as he is frantically photocopying at The Herald. He ignores the phone and continues copying old articles and newspapers. His expression quickly changes as he takes a closer look at one of the newspapers.
The Landrys and Elliot get together for dinner together at home. Elliot nervously mentions he has to leave and Alice excuses herself to continue packing. Jacob mentions that Stormy seems back to normal and is happy to ride him while he’s here. Del is put off by Jacob implying that he is only back temporarily. Once Del steps away, Kat asks Jacob why he hasn’t committed to coming back home. Jacob mentions the letters, which Kat confirms weren’t coming to the house while he was gone. Kat reminds Jacob how much she missed him while he was gone.
Del goes to check on Alice while she is upstairs packing. She promises Alice that everything will work out and that it’s normal to be scared. Alice asks if they can talk about her last visit to the pond. Del agrees it was extremely difficult and appreciates Alice’s support. Del gives Alice a big hug and tells her how much she will miss her. Alice receives a text from Max saying that he has a brilliant idea.
Del goes outside to visit Stormy, who hasn’t been acting the same around Del ever since he bucked her off. Stormy is still standoffish, but Del reassures Stormy that she will be patient with him.
At The Point, Jacob visits Alice while she is at work when Max walks in. Jacob and Max share an awkward handshake. Alice shares that Max is moving to Toronto for university. Max tries to make things less awkward by talking about the scavenger hunt that he and Alice have planned. Jacob sees Casey outside the window spying and quickly rushes off to chase after them. Alice teases Max for being so awkward around Jacob, and Max says that he just wants Jacob to know that everything is okay between him and the Goodwins now.
Jacob accidentally bumps into a woman while pursuing Casey. He recognizes the woman as the same one he briefly met in the bar in Toronto while she was on a blind date. She introduces herself as Abby. She explains that her family is also from Port Haven. After Jacob flirtatiously asks her, she agrees to join him for coffee.
Max and Alice begin their scavenger hunt, with Alice handing Max the first clue that she wrote. It leads them to a table in The Point, where they first met, where he crashed one of her dates with Noah. Max jokes about still being confused that Alice insisted that he had a sibling named Casey.
Jacob walks back into The Point with Abby, and she is happily surprised to see Max. Max introduces Abby as his marketing-guru sister, who happens to be in town to help Louis with the marketing for the new vineyard. However, Max is surprised that she knows Jacob. Abby then finds out that Jacob is a Landry, and Max mentions that he was the one that tried to burn the vineyard. While trying to clarify that everything is okay with Jacob now, Alice rushes out with Max. Abby is disappointed after finding out who Jacob is and swiftly leaves before sharing a coffee with him.
Kat knocks on Elliot’s front door since she left her key behind. He answers and immediately greets her with a passionate kiss. But Kat remains sad about having to drop off Alice at school in New York. She that Elliot has been a bit distant. Kat questions if it has to do with them moving in together after she returns from New York. Elliot reassures her that it has nothing to do with that and promises everything is okay.
Kat notices that there are some newspapers stuffed behind a pillow. She recognizes a photo from the paper, a poster with the title “Futura.” She remembers it from Grayson’s party in 1925, promoting the fortune teller. Elliot takes a closer look at the poster and notices that the fortune teller is holding two tarot cards: the knight and the empress. These are the same cards that Tessa took from Evelyn in 1979. Kat and Elliot conclude that Tessa was the fortune teller that was working at Grayson’s party. The Futura poster is promoting the fortune teller’s return to town in the circus. Kat remembers that her last visit was just before the circus was supposed to arrive and is immediately concerned about the Auggie boys going after Tessa.
Kat and Elliot rush to the pond together. Before jumping in, Elliot reminds Kat to look out for herself and tells her that he loves her. Kat reassures him that everyone will be okay. They jump in the pond together.
Max and Alice continue their scavenger hunt. Max’s clue takes Alice to the park near the water. Max points out a plaque on one of the chess tables. It reads, “For Alice, who loved this game. From Max, who always won, Checkmate!” Alice laughs and claims that she has beat him before. Max teases that it was only one time and she cheated.
After still having challenges with Stormy, Jacob warns Del to be careful and offers to help her rebuild her trust with the horse. Del angrily explains that she doesn’t want Jacob to build trust with Stormy and then leave town again.
Alice’s next scavenger hunt clue takes them to the barn loft. She thanks Max for all the tutoring and studying they did there together, and credits him for being the reason she got into college. He thanks her for helping him become less selfish, and corrects Alice, telling her that she got herself into college.
Kat and Elliot arrive at the circus in 1925. Kat mentions a bike on the ground and gets a flashback of when she tried to save Jacob at the circus. Elliot reminds Kat that Jacob made it home, and that they will do the same for his mom. They head inside the circus grounds to start searching for the fortune teller’s tent, which Kat remembers was blue with gold stars.
When Alice and Max hop back into Max’s car, Alice notices Casey spying from the side mirror. Alice tells Max she left her phone in the loft and goes to confront Casey. Casey explains the pond brought them there and it isn’t letting them go back yet. Alice asks what is going to happen between her and Max, but Casey can’t share anything from the future.
Back in the circus in 1925, Kat and Elliot find a blue tent with stars, that also has the Futura poster outside of it. Elliot rushes in, prepared to meet his mother. Unfortunately, the only person in there is a random man practicing his weightlifting. Elliot then notices that all the tents are the same color and pattern. Kat suggests they keep looking, but notices Grayson and the Auggie boys in the distance. Elliot recognizes the taller Auggie boy, Moe, as his great grandfather. Elliot suggests they follow the Auggie boys, hoping to be led to Tessa. Kat agrees. As Elliot begins walking, Kat notices a woman in a red cloak that matches the Futura poster. After catching up with the cloaked woman, Kat finds out it isn’t Tessa. She turns around and realizes that she’s lost Elliot.
Elliot is now searching for Kat when the Auggie boys suddenly confront him. They accuse him of following them and abduct him. Kat continues searching for Elliot and stumbles upon a fight. Elliot is squared up against his great grandfather Moe. Suddenly, Percy sneaks behind Elliot and grabs him. Kat tries to warn him, blowing her cover. The Auggie boys immediately recognize Kat, and Moe grabs her. Elliot shakes off Percy and punches Moe in the jaw. Cliff appears with the police to break up the fight. While the police take the Auggie boys into custody, Kat and Elliot walk off to safety, just after Cliff recognizes Elliot’s clothes as his own.
Kat and Elliot find Fern with Grayson at the Ring the Bell carnival game. Kat pulls Fern aside and introduces Elliot, while explaining that they came to find the fortune teller. Fern advises them to return home, warning that things are complicated. Before they can get a better explanation from Fern, Grayson joins the conversation. He is friendly while greeting them and mentions his idea of Port Haven having their own circus festival in the fall. Fern says it should be called the Fall Festival. Kat and Elliot lock eyes, realizing they just witnesses the conception of Port Haven’s famous Fall Festival that still happens annually in the present day.
Grayson sees Cliff and challenges him to Ring the Bell. Cliff accepts and they head back toward the game. Kat pleads with Fern, begging for more clues. Fern shares that it’s unlikely the Auggie boys will be tied up for long and will get out of going to prison. Cliff strikes the hammer and reaches the bell. He hands his prize, a stuffed animal, to a young boy. Fern compliments his kindness. Grayson compliments Cliff for winning Ring the Bell, telling him he won “fair and square.” Cliff comments that Grayson doesn’t usually care about fair and square. Cliff clarifies that he arrested the Auggie boys, but that doesn’t mean he won the war. Grayson claims that the Auggie boys, while troublesome, are harmless, so he makes sure to look after them. He offers to do the same for Cliff and walks away. Cliff scoffs but explains that money talks to most in Port Haven. Kat and Alice rush off, realizing that the cops were likely paid off to release the Auggie boys. While they try to find Tessa, they hear the circus announcer introduce the Futura performance.
Back in the present, Del goes outside to confront Stormy again. Stormy slowly approaches Del. Jacob watches Del successfully calm the horse.
Elliot and Kat head inside a large tent to watch the Futura performance. Shortly after they find their seats, the Auggie boys arrive and are followed by Fern, Grayson and Cliff. They all take their seats to watch the show. The lights dim and the show begins. Elliot watches closely as Futura, or Tessa, appears. When the Tessa asks for the audience for a volunteer for a palm read, Elliot begins to raise his hand. Kat quickly tries to stop him and draws the attention to herself. Tessa invites her to the stage. During the on-stage palm reading, Kat tries to explain the situation while whispering. Initially, Tessa doesn’t believe what Kat is saying, but Kat then calls her by her real name, Tessa, and explains she is there to take her home. Tessa’s expression flips, and she tells Kat to meet her backstage as soon as the show finishes. The Auggie boys quickly rush out of the tent. Tessa suddenly ends the show and disappears in a cloud of smoke. Kat and Elliot quickly head backstage but only find Tessa’s red cloak on the floor.
Kat and Elliot hide backstage and overhear Grayson ask Cliff to include Tessa on his circus patrol. Cliff jokes that Fern is trouble herself and leaves with her to continue his patrol. Kat begins to realize what is happening. She remembers Nick explaining that smugglers used distractions to get away with their exchanges at the cove. Grayson is using Fern to distract Cliff from intercepting the smuggling at the cove. Kat and Elliot immediately head to the cove.
In the present day, Alice and Max are at the cove as the last part of their scavenger hunt. While sitting on top of the hood of his car, Alice and Max reminisce about their memories at the cove together. Alice laughs while remembering when Max jumped into the ocean fully clothed. Max explains that the reason the cove is special to him is because it is where he realized how much he would miss Alice. Alice agrees and begins to question if she is ready to leave Port Haven. Max reassures her that she is ready.
Jacob goes to the stable to visit Stormy. He thanks the horse for being kind again with Del. He suddenly hears a noise and follows it to the loft. He discovers Casey, who has been staying at the loft. He interrogates Casey about being a Goodwin, but Casey explains that a name is less important than the person behind it. A voice from outside calls to Jacob and he looks from the barn window. It’s Abby Goodwin. She asks Jacob if they can talk. From the loft window, Jacob tells Abby that he believes fate keeps bringing them together. Abby explains she doesn’t believe in fate, but she can’t ignore the signs. Abby mentions her concern between their families, but Jacob explains that names don’t matter, inspired by what Casey just told him. Jacob turns around to head down from the loft and notices Casey is gone.
Back in 1925, Elliot and Kat reach the cove. They watch from the woods as the Auggie boys and their posse arrive with Tessa.
In the present, Jacob heads back inside after his conversation with Abby. He sits at the table with Del. He explains feeling paralyzed in the present, but he realized Port Haven wasn’t the problem. He tells Del that he wants to stay and asks if he can move back home. Del happily accepts and tells him she hopes he can make a life for himself in the present, including finding love. He reminds Del that he decided to return before hearing about her accident, which he now sees as a sign.
Alice and Max are getting ready to leave the cove. While he is packing up the car, Alice blurts out that she doesn’t want to go to New York anymore because it doesn’t feel right. Max tells her that she is crazy, but she doubles down, insisting that her instinct is telling her to stay. Max disappointedly asks if she is only deciding to stay because of Noah. On the verge of tears, Alice says no. Max angrily rants that Alice is wasting everything she is capable of if she stays. Alice turns around to walk home but Max convinces her to let him drive her home since it’s already dark outside.
Back in the cove in 1925, Kat runs toward the smugglers, yelling for them to let Tessa go. Elliot runs after Kat, trying to stop her. The smugglers all run off, believing Kat and Elliot are a part of a police raid. Kat approaches Tessa and tries to explain that she’s from the same time as her and is there to take her home. Tessa tries to explain that she doesn’t need saving. Moe Augustine then turns to Tessa, calling her boss, to warn her that Capone’s men are leaving. To stop the commotion, Tessa fires a gun into the sky. She then points it at Kat, blaming her for ruining everything. Elliot quickly runs in front of Kat, begging Tessa not to shoot Kat. He explains that he is her son. She immediately puts the gun down and nods at a man behind Elliot. The man strikes Elliot in the head, knocking him out.
