At the Landry home, Del tells Kat and Jacob about how she and Colton met in 1974. Del says that Colton referred to the summer of 1974 as the best worst summer of his life. Meanwhile in 1974, Colton and Alice watch as a young Del drops off food to offer her condolences to the Augustine family. Alice encourages Colton to keep going after Del. Vic sees Colton off in the distance, and yells that he hates him. He tells Colton it should have been he who died instead of Rick.
At Coyle’s in 1974, there is a gathering held to remember Rick. Evelyn tells Alice that she is no longer leaving for her trip to Morocco. Colton puts a song on the jukebox in honor of Rick, he and Evelyn emotionally sing along. Rick’s hearse passes by. Vic looks out the window miserably.

In the past, Evelyn shares with Alice that she is in love with Colton, but it doesn’t seem that he thinks of her in the same way. Alice tells Evelyn that she saw Colton swimming in the pond and asks Evelyn if she knows anything about that. Evelyn doesn’t say much and quickly changes the subject. At Coyle’s, Colton thanks Alice. He said he may not be alive if it wasn’t for her, since he walked her back after the beach party instead of leaving with Rick. Alice passes by a young Del admiring Colton from outside the window as he plays music in Coyle’s.
At the Landry home in the present, everyone is having dinner. Elliot tells the table about how things fell out with his father again. Alice has a flashback of seeing a young Vic mourning in the backseat of his brother’s hearse. Elliot notices Del has a bottle of Pinot at the table. Del finally confesses to everyone that she and Sam have been seeing each other. Kat puts it together that they had been in the clubhouse and left the wine behind. Kat tells everyone else that she is moving out with Elliot. Del is skeptical and claims she is abandoning Jacob and Alice. Jacob tells Elliot that he has his blessing if he decides to propose to Kat anytime soon.
Alice tells Kat about how Evelyn was in love with Colton. Alice remembers that Colton gave her one book in a set of two. However, now both books are back together in the Landry home. They uncover another hidden message in the second book. The messages come together to read, “To Evie, No curse is on you if you stay. The water did save us. I believe in it now. There is magic at home. Come back to me and to the pond. Love, Cole.” Evelyn never received this. This proves that they both know about the magic of the pond. Alice has a conversation with Elliot about his father. She offers to try to use the pond to mend their relationship. Elliot says their relationship is beyond saving, and he’s happier with his now chosen family.
Jacob offers to help Del sell at the farmers market. While there, the Landrys run into Del’s old friend Rita, who is still upset at Del. When Alice sees her old flame Noah running a food truck at the market, she offers to help him out. Soon Del apologizes to Rita and they make up. Noah asks Alice to leave her job at The Point and work with him. Del sees Vic and goes to greet him. Things quickly go sour; Del tells him off and defends Elliot. Elliot observes this and thanks her.

After seeing one another at the farmer’s market, Jacob and his old friend Danny catch up over a drink. Danny tells Jacob about blaming himself for Jacob’s assumed death. It seems like there is still trauma for Danny about the situation, but Jacob’s return has lifted some of the weight off his shoulders. Danny tells Jacob that he is doing landscaping for Louis Goodwin. Jacob is upset by this and tells Danny that the Goodwins are bad people.
Alice talks to Del about Evelyn, Colton, and the pond. Del still insists that Colton would have told her about the pond if he knew about it. Del does remember that Colton’s grandmother Fern used to tell outlandish stories about the pond.
Meanwhile Kat asks Grandma Fern if Colton uses the pond. Kat runs off back to the pond, where she quietly watches over Colton and Evelyn talking there.
When Kat returns home to the present-day Landry home, she is greeted by Del. Del is bothered by the fact that Kat still uses the pond now that Jacob has returned. Kat asks about Evelyn. Del asks Kat to stop poking around. When Kat receives a phone call, she angrily departs.

Vic claims Rick lost control of the vehicle on a bend because he was distracted by him. Elliot tells Vic that it’s not too late to make things better between them. Elliot offers the ring to his dad. Vic declines and says that Elliot is the one who will carry on their family legacy.
Kat brings a drunk Jacob back to the house. Jacob is having a hard time dealing with living a lie. Also at the farm, Noah visits Alice to hand over her share of the tips that they made when she was helping him work the food truck. Noah asks Alice for another chance.
