In 1926, Kat rushes Elliot to the pond to bring him back to the present for medical attention. Just before they reach the pond, he collapses and loses consciousness. Kat helplessly screams in agony. Meanwhile, Alice and Jacob surface from the pond. Jacob explains to Alice that the explosion may be more tragic than they expected. Suddenly, Kat appears behind them, carrying Elliot. They rush over to help and Jacob picks up Elliot and jumps into the pond. Kat and Alice jump in shortly after, but the pond doesn’t take Kat with it.
Near the beach, Fern watches on with a blank expression as the townspeople search through the rubble. Kat informs her that the pond won’t take her back. Fern ignores what Kat is saying and simply states that Cliff was meant to kiss her at midnight. Kat explains that Cliff was in the tunnels with them so there is a chance he made it out. A man in the distance yells that a body was found, and the townspeople hurry over to help. Still with a traumatized look on her face, Fern suggests they head back into town so she can write her piece about the party.
In the present, Sam finds Del outside on the Landry porch. He asks to explain everything he knows about the pond. They are interrupted by Alice and Jacob’s voices in the distance, screaming for help while carrying Elliot. Sam instructs Del to dial 911 and rushes over to help.
In 1926, Kat and Fern return to the Landry home. There is a letter on the table, the same one with the image of the key that Kat found in the piano. Fern picks it up. While reading it, she holds back tears while stating that she is a “lucky one.” Fern reveals to Kat that she is pregnant and that she planned on telling Cliff on New Year’s at midnight. Fern begins to sing “Beautiful Dreamer” and mentions that it’s the perfect song to sing to a baby. There is a knock at the door. Moe Augustine enters and mentions that Tessa is still missing, as well as Percy and the undercover cop. Fern immediately asks about Cliff. Moe nods his head in despair. Kat catches Fern as she falls to the floor, crying.
Del frantically explains the situation in the present as Sam tends to Elliot, whose shirt is covered in blood from the bullet wound.
Kat stops at The Herald in 1926 to pick up belongings for Fern. Grayson is there working on Fern’s column for her. He explains to Kat that he is pinning the explosion on the Big Fish being caught, to preserve Port Haven’s image to Nate Simon, their Hollywood sponsor for the film. Kat is upset that Grayson is still focused on the film despite the tragedy that just occurred. Grayson explains he is trying to do what is best for Port Haven and that he will do right by Fern. He then presents Susanna Augustine’s will and explains that the Landrys are rightful owners of Lingermore. Grayson then talks about his memories as a child with his sister on the Landry farm and mentions the painting of them two at the pond, with an angel above them. Kat clarifies that the angel is the White Witch. He hopes that Susanna’s will and the film being produced in town are the light at the end of the tunnel. On her way out, Kat reminds Grayson that the tragedy is a reminder that they shouldn’t take anyone or anything for granted along the way.
Kat returns to the Landry home to check on Fern. She offers to make Fern tea, but Fern asks for something else: for Kat to accompany her on her first jump in the pond. Kat nods in agreement.
Kat and Fern are taken back only one day, to New Year’s Eve, 1925. They hide behind the house and watch Kat’s conversation with Cliff, where he agrees to Kat’s plan if Fern is kept out of trouble. Fern decides to go inside to see Cliff one last time. Cliff is at the table, writing the same letter she found on the next day. She grabs him and stands close, eye to eye. She asks to break a rule, and Cliff jokes that she isn’t a rule follower in the first place. She asks to share the future with Cliff and tells him that they’re going to be a family. He immediately smiles and hugs her, lifting her off the floor. Fern is struggling to hold back her tears. Cliff suggests they go down to the town hall to get married, but still holding back tears, Fern tells him they can do it tomorrow. Cliff offers to drop Fern off at Lingermore for the party. Fern then tells Cliff how much she loves him and vaguely tells him to “not be the hero” because he already is one. She then urges him to meet her at midnight for their kiss, and he responds, “Wild horses couldn’t keep me away.” He rushes upstairs to grab his coat. Kat enters to get Fern. Fern shares that all she wanted was for Cliff to know he would be a father. They leave before he comes back downstairs.
Back in 1926, as Kat is preparing a kettle for tea, she drops a teacup. As she reaches down to pick up the pieces, she begins crying. Fern overhears and enters the room with a bottle of liquor, suggesting they need something stronger than tea. Kat shares her worry that Elliot isn’t going to make it. Fern reminds Kat how wonderful the pond can be and hopes that it will be just as kind to Kat as it was to her. Kat insists she can’t leave Fern alone, but Fern explains she won’t be alone since she is going to be a mother. Fern recalls a story she was told as a child, about a boy from the future who saved the Landry family. She explains that she always thought it would be about her brother Frank but now fears the responsibility may fall on her future child. Kat explains that motherhood is the greatest gift. Surprised to find out that Kat is a mother, Fern asks what her child’s name is. Kat tells her Alice, which Fern says is just like Alice in Wonderland.
In the present, Alice and Jacob are waiting at the kitchen for news about Elliot’s condition. Del walks in and tells them that Elliot pulled through during an emergency surgery. Alice asks if they can visit Elliot, but Del insists they should let him rest a bit longer. She mentions that Sam handled the police, telling them that there was an accident.
In 1926, Grayson presents Susanna’s will to Fern. Fern is initially skeptical, asking if Grayson only wanted to marry her to keep Lingermore in the Goodwin family. Grayson explains that was never his plan and states his intention to take care of Fern. Kat walks down the staircase and begins to listen in to the conversation. Fern tells Grayson that he can burn Susanna’s will, because she plans on keeping the Landry family on their farm. Grayson suggests he and Fern marry, and he will help raise the child as his own. Fern thanks him, but declines. He then tells Fern he will help her look after the farm, which she graciously accepts, calling him her “dear friend.” As he gets up to leave, Fern tells him that he will find love like her one day. Grayson says he hopes so but says they will never be like her.
Fern grabs Cliff’s letter and sits at the piano. She explains to Kat that she doesn’t want the town to think Cliff ever wronged her by abandoning her, so she’s decided to keep their relationship a secret to protect his name. She decides to hide his letter behind to her favorite piano key.
Alice receives a text from Noah that work is busy, so he can’t come to visit like he originally planned. Alice looks at a photo of Elliot on her dresser and decides to head to the pond. It takes her to 1979, where she sees Tessa just as she leaves the pond. Tessa is burying a suitcase and asks where Alice is coming from. Alice tells her she is coming from the same place Tessa is headed: the pond.
Del finds Jacob to let him know that she is going to the hospital to check on Elliot. Jacob shares his anger with everything the pond has done to their family. Del tries to explain that life is hard, with or without the pond, and they should be grateful for what the pond has given them. Jacob struggles to reason with what Del is saying. He then informs Del that he is going to jump in the pond to bring back Kat so it can all be over.
In 1979, Alice asks Tessa why she wants to jump in the pond and leave. Contrary to what Alice believed, Tessa explains she doesn’t love Griffin. She recounts seeing Griffin resurface from the pond, telling her about its secret. She saw it as her fortune coming true, from when Evelyn presented her with the tarot card of a knight coming to save her. She believes the pond is her path to escaping her life to start a new one, after feeling disconnected from her family, friends, and most importantly her baby. Alice tries to explain that Tessa isn’t alone and her mom felt the same way, but a friend helped her. Tessa insists that she is leaving because it’s for the best, and she truly loves her family. Alice realizes that when Tessa wrote that she “jumps for love,” it wasn’t about Griffin, it was about what she thought was best for her family. Alice warns Tessa that she may never be able to come back, to which Tessa says she is okay with as long as Elliot will be safe. Alice reassures her that he will be amazing, and that the Landrys will take him in as their own. Tessa reaches for her suitcase and pulls out a photo. It’s the one that Griffin took of Tessa and Elliot at the pond, with Alice to the side of them. Tessa rips Alice out of the photo and promises to keep the secret about who she is.
Del brings Elliot back to his house and helps him onto the couch. He sees some of his notes about the pond on the coffee table and begins to recount everything that happened. He blames himself for what happened to his mother, and questions why the pond even brought him there in the first place. Del tries to explain that everything was because of the choices Tessa made, not him. She explains that the pond brought him there to spend time with Tessa.
Jacob exits the pond in February 1820. He sees the older, more modest Landry home. Thomas and Susanna walk out. He immediately runs over to hug them. Elijah opens the door and Jacob immediately greets him with an emotional embrace. They join at the kitchen table, where Elijah says that all he wanted in life was to share another meal with his son. He can tell something is bothering Jacob, so he asks about it. Jacob shares that he is in love, but he and the pond ruined it. He describes himself as a prison, with the pond being his jailer. Elijah explains that he is ill because of a choice he made to run into a fire to save a man, a decision he doesn’t regret. He uses this example to tell Jacob that he is responsible for his own decisions, not the pond, so he must let go of his anger toward it. Elijah tells Jacob that family and his love will help set him free.
Alice jumps into the pond to return home but runs into Griffin passing by the Augustine home, where he is dropping something off. She asks him what year it is, to which he answers 1984. Alice asks why he isn’t further in the past with Tessa. He explains that she is ill and he jumped in the pond to bring back medicine, but the pond shut him out, trapping Tessa there. He then decided to write a letter pretending to be Tessa, returning the ring to give Vic closure.
In 1820, Elijah says his farewell to Jacob, with Thomas and Susanna alongside them. He mentions that Jacob should return to tend to his “courting.” As Elijah heads back inside, Thomas and Susanna ask what courting Elijah was referring to. Jacob informs them that he is in love with a Goodwin. Their expressions change to disbelief. Jacob is expecting them to disapprove, but Susanna tells him that she is proud of him putting their family histories behind them, and that it brings her hope that the founding families can coexist peacefully. Susanna asks about Kat, and Jacob tells them that she is doing well. He then thanks Susanna for everything she has done for their family. He also thanks Thomas for his friendship and advice, mentioning the dreams he had of Thomas guiding him through tough times. Thomas shares that he has also dreamt of Jacob and Kat, and jokes that he dreamt of his life together with Kat, living together in a blue house. As he is about to return home, Jacob realizes that he never told Thomas that the Landry home is blue. Thomas claims that “the universe works in mysterious ways.”
When he returns to the present, Jacob finds in the almanac that Elijah passed on February 16, 1820, meaning he got to see him one last time. Abby walks in. She saw Jacob come back inside from the field and wanted to apologize. Jacob apologizes too. Abby says that she wants to figure everything out with the will before she leaves. Jacob asks her to stay, saying that being with her is a gift and he won’t take it for granted. Abby grabs him and they kiss. She then asks about the book he was reading when she walked in. He says it’s about his family, and he can’t wait to tell her all about them.
In 1926, Fern and Kat walk to the pond together to say goodbye. Fern insists that she will be okay. Kat is still hesitant to return home, scared to find out what happened to Elliot. Fern encourages her to move forward, and tells Kat she can’t wait to meet Alice, joking that she will be her Cheshire Cat. Kat walks to the pond to return home.
In 1984, Alice approaches the pond to return home when Fern, as her elderly self, appears. Alice asks why she told Tessa she would kill her son when Elliot survived. Fern jokes that nobody is truly dead when the pond is involved. Alice realizes that Fern knew who she was all along. They give each other a warm embrace before Alice jumps in the pond.
On his couch, Elliot winds the clock back to 11:11. Kat suddenly walks in, telling him to make a wish. They run toward each other and kiss.
At the Landry home, Kat, Elliot, Alice and Del are together at the kitchen table sharing coffee. Del tells them that she is considering selling Colton’s boat to Nick, since she knows he will take good care of it. Kat then brings out the film reel from Coyle’s, explains that she retrieved it from Monica so they wouldn’t get exposed. Since he was stuck in 1925 at the time, this is Elliot’s first time seeing the reel. He recognizes it from 2007. He found it in the Augustine basement and decided to give it to Evelyn as an apology gift after the party at Lingermore. They then realize that Tessa must have retrieved it from the trash after watching Alice steal it at the Coyle’s New Year’s party. Alice questions if Tessa is the one who edited them out.
Jacob goes to Louis to make amends. He hands over Susanna’s will, telling Louis he can burn it he’d like, explaining that he realized it was meant to unite their families, not pull them further apart. He reminds Louis that all the founding families were friends at one point. Louis agrees, recalling those times when he was a child, but his perceptions of those relationships faded when his mother passed. Abby watches on from the other room as Louis and Jacob shake hands, agreeing to a truce.
Alice finds Kat upstairs, focused while typing away at her computer. Kat tells Alice that Fern had heard stories of a boy who saved the Landry family, which she realized is about Jacob. The story inspired her to write a book about their family history. Alice receives a text from Max to come outside.
Alice rushes outside, confused what Max is doing back in town. Max immediately asks if the original song Alice sent him is about them. Alice explains that the song is inspired by another couple that showed her the relationship he wants. Max tells her that he can give her the relationship she wants, not Noah. Alice is lost for words and hesitates to respond. Max scoffs and heads back in his car and leaves. A voice asks Alice if she is going to let Max leave after all that. Alice looks over toward the barn where Colton’s boat is parked. Nick is standing there, inspecting it before making an offer to buy it from Del. Alice jokes that Nick is always there for the most awkward moments of her love life. Nick recalls what he told her when he found out who she really was, that he hoped she found real love in her time. Nick advises her to look forward and not back to find it. Alice heads to the pond.
Alice goes to Lingermore and sees a woman watching the film reel from Coyle’s. The woman turns around and Alice immediately recognizes her as Evelyn, even though she is older. Evelyn then brings out a handful of evidence she has collected to prove that Alice, Colton and Kat all time traveled. She shares her frustration that everyone knew about the magic of the pond but decided to keep it from her. Alice tries to explain that they never meant to hurt her, but Alice loved their friendship as it was and tried to protect her. Evelyn forgives her and says that she wants to help keep their secret. They take apart the film and Evelyn begins cutting parts out. She explains that her grandfather Grayson was a film enthusiast and taught her how to edit film. Alice thanks Evelyn and tells her that her grandson Max misses her. Evelyn promises to call him that night. Evelyn then thanks Alice for being there when she needed her most, and she is the reason she decided to travel, which led her to having a family of her own. Evelyn tells her that she must go, once again saying that everything is a countdown to something. They embrace, agreeing that they will always be friends, no matter what time they are in.
In the present, Casey walks into the house to find Del and defend Sam for keeping his knowledge of the pond a secret. Del explains that she has already forgiven Sam, but something is holding her back from moving forward with him. Casey then realizes what they must do. Casey takes Del to the pond and they jump together, arriving at the summer kickoff in 1999. Casey runs off as Colton appears, greeting Del as she climbs out of the pond.
Alice brings Kat out onto the front porch. Elliot is outside in the front yard, waiting under a display of fairy lights and lanterns. Kat walks over to meet him. Elliot explains that he wanted to have a perfect proposal planned, but he realized that there is no perfect time. He decided to propose his love for Kat on the Landry farm, because that’s where Kat and her family showed him so much love throughout his life. He kneels and asks Kat to marry him. She says yes with no hesitation and they kiss. Alice plays her guitar as they embrace.
In 1999, Colton and Del hug each other. Del is overwhelmed with emotion. Colton mentions that Alice told him that Jacob comes home, and he asks Del if Jacob remembers him. She tells him that he does, and that both of their children are happy. Colton asks Del if she has been happy, to which she replies she wasn’t for a while, but she is trying her best to move forward. Colton encourages her to allow herself to be happy. Colton asks her to dance. They hold each other tight and sway. Colton apologizes for keeping the pond a secret, but Del understands that he did it to protect them. She explains that together they are magic, and they kiss as they hold one another and dance.
Back in the present, Del and Sam are cleaning the stables together. Sam mentions that he heard that Del is selling Colton’s boat to Nick and asks how she is feeling about it. Del explains that she’s ready to move on. She tells Sam how happy she is with him but asks for them to keep no more secrets. Sam jokes that Casey told him more about the future. Del laughs and tells Sam that he doesn’t have to tell her about her future. They kiss.
Max meets with Alice to apologize for confronting her. Alice tells Max that she feels called toward home but wants to explore what else is out in the world for her. Alice stops Max before he leaves to tell him that he was right about her song being about their relationship. He immediately approaches her and they kiss. They agree that they see themselves growing together. Alice then sees Nick on the boat and congratulates him on buying it. He tells Alice that he can’t wait to make memories on it alongside his wife, Claire. Alice shares that she looks forward to meeting Claire.
Kat and Elliot share their desires to tell Susanna and Tessa about their engagement. They also agree that they are glad they found all the answers to the questions they asked about the past. Elliot mentions that he never solved why Tessa left the clock in the wall. He realizes that Tessa hadn’t yet bought the house when she died. He theorizes that she bought the house after 1925 and left the clock in the wall to tell Elliot she was still alive. He remembers that the note on the clock read “To make an end is to make a beginning” from T.S. Eliot.
Jacob congratulates Alice as she signs up for university classes in New York for the Spring semester. Alice tells Jacob that she’s proud he was able to make amends with Louis and move forward with Abby. Jacob jokes that he wishes he had a family ring to propose to Abby with one day, like Elliot had for Kat. Alice pulls out the necklace that Casey wears, which has Alice’s ring on it. Alice and Jacob suddenly connect the dots, that Casey was there for all of Jacob’s important moments with Abby. Casey is Jacob’s child from the future.
In the future, a wedding is set up near the pond, with the aisle leading toward the pond. Louis walks Abby down the aisle and shakes Jacob’s hand while dropping Abby off at the altar. Jacob looks off in the distance and sees a vision of Thomas, Elijah and Susanna nodding in approval. Sam steps forward as the wedding minister. Kat sees a vision of Cliff and Fern smiling together. Alice sees Evelyn. Del sees Colton. The whole family is joined together to watch the wedding, including Casey, who watches their parents get married from a distance.
After the wedding ceremony, Kat and Alice meet at the pond to reflect on their long journey to a happy ending. They agree that every ending is just a new beginning. They join hands and jump into the pond together.
