Joy does have a house to renovate – Martha’s new mansion. Cassie adds she also has family to get to know better.
Abigail thinks the progressive dinner Cassie is planning for Joy is a great idea, especially as she is off the hook for making anything. Joy appreciates the hard work going into her dinner to meet everyone and has an idea, from Elizabeth Merriwick. Cassie finishes her thought saying she loves making dream candles. Joy, shocked but not surprised, says they should do it. Abigail asks what dream candles are exactly and Joy explains it is a Merriwick tradition in which you etch your dream into the wick tab and let the wax set around it. Once the candle burns down the dream is supposed to come true.
Cassie finds Sam starting his morning with a guitar and coffee. A perfect breakfast, although Sam notes the only thing missing is a blueberry muffin. Cassie smiles as the oven dings. Muffins are ready! As Cassie brings out the muffins, Sam is uneasy about performing surgery today even though he has been doing this forever. Cassie feels it is natural for him to be uneasy because his patient is Adam.
Sam and Lydia have a great marriage. They're committed to each other, and to their veterinary practice. But when Sam's high school flame comes back to town, it's a time of tension for everybody.
