He tells the story of his wife Joey passing away from cancer and what it was like to grab those final months with her. He also discusses what it was like raising his family on their farm and running a business from there. He talks about all the love lessons that he learned from his wife and what he took away after her passing.
Chef Alejandra Schrader is making a traditional Venezuelan dish, yucca bunuelos along with homemade syrup to soak them in. If yucca is not available, you can always substitute in sweet potato. If you don’t have a deep fryer to make the bunuelos, you can always use a dutch oven. When it comes to frying, she recommends using a grape seed oil and make sure it gets to 365 degrees before dipping the bunuelos.
