MATERIALS:
- Jeans
- Fabric or old dress to cut up
- Fabri-tac, sewing machine or needle and thread
- Fabric scissors
- Decorative trim
- Iron
- Straight pins
INSTRUCTIONS:
TO CREATE THE FLAT PANEL JEANS
1. Cut two rectangular panels of fabric that are the length of your jeans from top to bottom on the front side. The width will depend on the style and size of the jean just make sure to add ½” seam allowance to both sides.
2. Fold the seam allowance under and press the edges with an iron to hem the edges of your panels.
3. Place the fabric panels on and either glue or hand sew them in place starting with the edges of the pocket.
4. Trim the fabric to the top edge of the pocket and glue decorative trim over the top to finish the edge of the fabric.
5. Allow the glue to dry and enjoy!
TO CREATE THE FLOWY PANEL JEANS
1. Cut some flowy fabric from a dress or create a flowy panel of fabric yourself.
PRO TIP: if you create the panel yourself, you will have to hem the edges since they will all be free flowing.
2. To pleat the panel which will add more movement, fold every half inch and pin the fold before onto the next.
3. Sew or glue the pleats in place. If you use glue, take the pins out and place something weighted on top.
4. Place the flowy panel up against the top edge of the front pocket, sew or glue on.
5. Allow the glue to dry and enjoy!
