Ken Wingard’s DIY Ottoman/Cooler

Ken shows off a DIY perfect for relaxing AND the summer weather

Materials:

  • Tub
  • 1/2" Plywood
  • Upholstery foam
  • Fabric
  • Needle
  • Heavy thread
  • Buttons
  • Scrap wood

Directions:

  1. Trace tub top in plywood
  2. Cut out plywood
  3. Drill holes for tufting into plywood
  4. Trace plywood onto foam
  5. Cut foam
  6. Glue foam to plywood
  7. Drape fabric over foam
  8. Push threaded needle up through plywood, foam and fabric
  9. Loop through button and back down through cushion.
  10. Tie off thread and repeat.
  11. Staple fabric underneath plywood and trim excess
  12. Cut 2 pieces of scrap wood to be slight shorter than the seat
  13. Screw pieces to bottom of plywood.
