How to Use a Wicking Cord to Water/Fertilize Your African Violets

Shirley Bovshow is giving you professional tips on how to care for your flowers.

1. Carefully remove your plant from it’s container and run one end of the cord through the drain hole at the bottom of the pot and up the side.

2. Put your plant back in and run the cord around the inside outer edge of the container, burying it shallowly.

3. Place the other end of the cord through the hole of a covered container filled with water and a weak dose of fertilizer.

4. As the soil dries, the wicking cord will absorb the water/fertilizer solution and keep your plant hydrated and fed.
