Add serious vacation vibes to your homes with DIY Palm Leaf pendants.

MATERIALS:

  • Brown craft paper
  • 12” mdf wreath forms with 8” center
  • Clamp light reflector
  • Pendant cord in desired color
  • Spray paint to match pendant cord
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Ruler
  • Brown paper or masking tape

OPTIONAL:

  • E6000

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Paint the floodlight reflector to match your pendant cord.
  2. To create the template, draw out half of the palm leaf shape along the edge of a piece of craft paper. Cut out.
  3. Cut the leaf shapes out of craft paper. Fold the craft paper in half, align the straight edge of the template with the folded edge, trace then cut out. Repeat to create as many leaves as desired for pendant, we used 12.
  4. Create the leaf grooves. From the centerline outward, use a ruler to make long parallel vertical accordion folds until you reach the end. Repeat on the other side of the leaf.
  5. Repeat step 3 on each leaf until they each have all their grooves.
  6. Tape the end of each palm leaf to achieve the narrow-ended palm shape.
  7. Arrange the first 6 palm leaves on the flat wreath form.
  8. Use hot glue to attach the leaves in place. Hold in place until the glue is secure.
  9. Repeat steps 5 and 6 on the second wreath form.
  10. Glue the second palmed wreath form onto the first. Allow the glue to set.
  11. Screw the painted light reflector onto the pendant cord.
  12. Slide the palm pendant over the cord and onto the lip of the reflector. It should rest steadily but use heat-safe glue like e6000.
  13. Hang as desired and enjoy!
