DIY Illuminated Christmas Window

Paige Hemmis has a fun and festive holiday-themed DIY using a shipping box, foam core and Christmas tree lights.

Materials

  • Foam Core
  • Shipping Box
  • Craft Knife
  • Character Print Out
  • Christmas Tree Lights
  • Wire
  • Spray Paint
  • Brush Paint
  • Ruler
  • Red Jewel
  • Hot glue Gun

DIY Illuminated Christmas Window - Home & Family

Directions

1) Cut the window in your box with four quadrants
2) On the opposite side of the box, cut a large open window
3) Measure and cut a piece of foam core to the size of the box
4) Spray paint foam core with blue spray paint and a little pink spray paint on the bottom for effect, use the blue spray paint to paint the inside of the box
5) Brush paint the box the color of your choosing
6) Print out provided Rudolph (on website) or any other figure you’d like
7) Attach print out to a piece of foam core and use a craft knife to cut it out
8) Color the edges of the cutout black with a sharpie
9) Poke a hole in the Rudolph where you’ll light up its nose, and poke a corresponding hold in the foam core insert
10) Poke additional holes in the foam core insert for lights, corresponding to how many lights you have
11) Cut out three small pieces of foam core and hot glue them to the back of the Rudolph to give it a 3D effect
12) Insert the entire piece into the box and add your lights, securing them with wire
13) Light it up and enjoy Christmas all year round!
