If you are going to use frozen blueberries instead of fresh ones, Shelly suggests not thawing them out because it can cause discoloration in the batter.

Vanessa Marano Interview

Actress Vanessa Marano sits down with Mark and Cristina to talk about the return of her ABC Family series “Switched at Birth” which returns to television April 24th. Aside from “Switched at Birth,” Vanessa also played the title character in “The Brooke Ellison Story,” where she played a quadriplegic and worked closely with Christopher and Dana Reeve, prior to their deaths. Now she works closely with their foundation.

Meanwhile, Ken points out that his DIY projects have brought his family closer and Matt Rogers says his fun DIYs only prove that he’s not perfect. Paige says her DIYs encourage her to think outside of the box. Mark enjoys DIY projects that have to do with building furniture for his sons and keeping his mind active.

Preventing Osteoporosis

Dr. Sheryl Ross from the Providence Saint John's Health Center, visits Home & Family to talk about preventing Osteoporosis, a condition that can occur when bones lack calcium and vitamin D, which results in them becoming weak and brittle. Osteoporosis is five times more common in women and screenings for it should begin at the age of 50 and performed bi-annually. She encourages women to eat a colorful diet, high in dairy, protein and vitamin D and this includes much-needed sunlight.

She suggests getting to know a cat’s personality before adopting it and if you are adopting a kitten, it helps to adopt two for behavioral management. When using a brush and wipes on your cat, you are helping alleviate allergies. She advises against declawing a cat because it can lead them to have serious health problems, including arthritis. To limit shedding, feed your cat wet food, which will also boost their overall health!
