POM-POM CHRISTMAS GARLANDS MATERIALS:

  • Faux fur
  • Tapestry needle (or upholstery needle)
  • Scissors
  • Yarn or crochet thread
  • Polyfil
  • Thick white yarn
  • Thick red yarn
  • Wire
  • Hot glue gun

POM-POM CHRISTMAS GARLAND INSTRUCTIONS:

For the Pom-Pom:

  • Lay out the fabric faux fur side down and draw a circle, you can do this with a compass or a circular object like a bowl
  • Cut the circle out
  • Create a running stitch about 1/4 inch from the edge all around the circle
  • Once you get to the end of the circle, start to pull the yarn so that the fabric starts to bunch together and creates a little pocket to add the poly-fil
  • Add some of the poly-fil to the pom-pom until it’s full and then all the yarn tighter until the hole is closed
  • Then close the hole all the way and make a knot and weave your thread a few times through
  • Leave some of the thread out to tie into the garland
  • Repeat until you have enough pom-poms for the length of your garland

For the Garland:

  • Lay out the white yarn long onto a table without cutting it from the rest
  • Repeat with the red
  • You’re going to add a line of hot glue along the center of the white yarn & place the wire on top
  • Press the yarn around it to secure it in. It’s almost like sandwiching the wire into the center of the yarn.
  • Repeat with the red
  • Place the red yarn on top of the white and twist them together, the wire should help with the twisting
  • Add a dot of hot glue throughout the twisting to secure the two lines together
  • Keep going until the full length is twisted together
  • Add the pom poms onto the yarn by tying them with the excess thread
  • Hang as desired
