How to Pick the Perfect Foundation with Sophie Uliano

For Young Or Oiler Skin – Mineral Foundation
For young or oiler skin, I would recommend trying a mineral foundation. The minerals provide extra sun-protection, it's easy to apply, and can provide a lovely smooth finish. Jane Iredale is an industry leader in healthy mineral foundation, and she has a powder or pressed powder foundation, which I love. They are also BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE-FREE. Many mineral foundations contain Bismuth which can lead to irritation, redness, swelling, and even acne, so I prefer formulations that don't use this ingredient.

For Dry-Mature Skin – Liquid Or Cream Foundation
For dry-mature skin, I would recommend a liquid or cream foundation. However, if you have mature skin, you really want to make sure that the foundation isn't too heavy because it will settle in your fine wrinkles. You are better off with a good build-able foundation, especially for the daytime. I love Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation, which not only has great staying-power, but which also feels almost as if you are not wearing foundation.

Long Wearing Foundation
If you are on the lookout for a long-wearing foundation, you want to go for something that is a little thicker and thus provides more coverage. I love Tarte's 12-hour Amazonion Clay foundation for something that lasts from day-to-night.

Problem Skin "Problem Skin" (rosacea, breakouts, acne,) or post -surgery. You need a good cover-up here, but one that is filled with loads of healing ingredients. I like Glo Minerals Satin Foundation.
