Materials
- One - 4" wide paper mache cone (Sold at Hobby Lobby)
- One - Scotch Mailing Tube 4" x 48"
- Americana Paint in Fawn, Black, Primary Yellow and Poodleskirt Pink (or similar)
- One sheet - Silver Mirror-look 12x12" cardstock
- Martha Stewart Scoring Board
- Hot glue gun
- A sharp craft knife/X-acto knife
- Foam paint brushes
Directions
Paint the Cone:
1) Use a foam brush to paint the entire paper mache cone with tan/taupe paint
2) Use a foam brush to paint the tip of the cone with black paint
3) Use a foam brush to create a zig-zag pattern on the bottom edge of the paper mache cone
Paint the "tube" of the Pencil:
1) Use a foam brush to paint the mail tube with yellow paint - with the exception of about 5-8 inches
2) Use a foam brush to paint the remaining 8 inches with pink paint
Score the Silver Paper
1) Use a scoring board to create score lines on two pieces of 12"x6" pieces of mirror silver cardstock. This scoring will mimic the look of the metal piece of a real pencil
Add part of the Stencil:
1) Use stencil, a foam brush and black (or dark green) paint to add "Dixon No. 2 / HB" to the side of the pencil
Adhere "metal" piece
1) Use a hot glue gun to adhere the scored metal piece to the pencil "tube" Cut the money slot
2) Use a craft knife to cut a slot in the side of the pencil "tube"
Adhere the pencil top
1) Use a hot glue gun to adhere the paper mache cone to the top of the mail tube
Finish off the stencil
1) Add the last couple of letters of the stenciled "Dixon No.2 / HB
