DIY Yule Log

MATERIALS:

  • Log or driftwood
  • Candle cups
  • Tapered candles
  • Drill
  • Paddle or forstner bit to fit candle cup
  • E6000
  • Orbital sander or sanding block

TO CREATE THE STANDING CANDELABRA YULE LOG:

  • Wood round
  • Branch
  • Slender tapered candle cups
  • Slender tapered candles
  • Drill
  • Screws ½” longer than the thickness of the wood round
  • E6000
  • Optional:
    • Spray paint

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Make sure the log as a flat bottom to rest on safely. If the log does not already have a good resting spot, sand the bottom flat in a few areas so it is sturdy.
  2. Drill the holes in desired spots, only drill as deep as the candle cup is tall.
  3. Add a candle cup into each hole. Apply the e6000 in the hole then drop in the candle cup. Place a candle in before it dries to make sure it sits vertically.
  4. Place all the candles, drop into your décor and enjoy!

TO CREATE THE STANDING CANDELABRA YULE LOG:

  1. Screw through the bottom of the wood round into the bottom of the branch. Make sure the position is balanced so it doesn’t fall over.
  2. Paint if desired. Allow to dry.
  3. Arrange your candle cups on the branch to find desired placement.
  4. Adhere the candle cups in place with e6000. Allow to dry according to instructions.
  5. Place into your décor and enjoy!
