Materials

  • (2) 48’’x 11 ½‘’ Wooden boards
  • Light and Dark Wood Stain
  • Sandpaper
  • Saw
  • Drill
  • Pencil
  • Painters Tape
  • Brush
  • Spray adhesive
  • Xacto Knife
  • Lid of plastic container
  • Template printout of Celtic Design

Directions

1. Trace and cut out design of wooden boards:
2. Board #1:
3. Trace rectangle shape by measuring from the top at 32 ¼’’ down to 34’’ leaving a 2’’ space on each side creating a 1 ¾’’ x 7 ½’’ rectangle.
4. Use plastic lid to trace a “U” shape at the very bottom of board.
5. Use same lid to round off edges of top of board.
6. Using a drill, create hole large enough to fit saw though in center and sides of rectangle.
7. Cut out rectangle using saw.
8. Cut of “U” shape using saw.
9. Cut out rounded edges of top using saw.
10. Board #2:
11. Measure 12’’ from top of board and 2’’ on each side.
12. Trace out shape all the way down remaining 36’’ from 12’’ mark on both sides.
13. Using plastic lid, trace round edges of top.
14. Cut out shape using saw.
15. Cut out rounded edges of top using saw.
16. Sand down both boards.
17. Stain both boards using light stain of choice.
18. Let dry completely.
19. Print out Celtic Design template.
20. On the top of board #1 cover in painter’s tape.
21. Spray adhesive to print out of Celtic design and attach to painter’s tape.
22. Using xacto knife cut out Celtic design leaving painter’s tape.
23. Use a dark stain to cover the Celtic design.
24. Let dry completely.
25. Peel off painter’s tape to reveal design.
26. Insert small end of board #2 into hole of board #1.
27. Sit back, relax and enjoy!
