DIY Halloween Graveyard Crypt

Materials for Crypt

  • 2” Styrofoam Board
  • ½” Styrofoam Board
  • Adhesive
  • Screws

Materials for Moving Top

  • Disco Ball Motor
  • 17” 4”x4”
  • Wooden Base
  • 4” Disc
  • Paint Stick
  • Screws & Nuts
  • Foam Cutter
  • PVC end Cap
  • Washers
  • 2” Wooden Dowel
  • Glue

DIY Halloween Crypt - Home & Family

Directions for the Crypt

1. Cut 2” Foam Pieces to Size:

a. 2x 20x60 for sides

b. 2x 20x20 for ends

c. 20x64 for lid

d. 24x68 for base

2. Cut ½“ Foam Pieces to Size:

a. 16x60 for lid top

b. 22x66 for base top

3. Glue and screw 4 sides together to make a box

4. Glue and screw ½” base top to base

5. Glue and screw ½” lid top to lid

6. Glue bottom edge of box and attach to base

FOR MOVING LID:

1. Attach 4x4 to Wooden Base

2. Attach Disco Ball Motor to top of 4x4 with screws

3. Attach Paint Stick to 4” Disc using nuts and a bolt

4. Attach a second longer bolt to the other end of the pain stick

5. Place Disco Ball Motor inside Crypt towards the top

6. Use Foam Cutter to cut out 2 small holes in lid. One at crypt bottom base where lid and
base connect, the other in middle of lid towards the top under where the disco ball motor will be.

7. Glue washers over holes in lid.

8. Insert PVC End Cap in Hole at bottom of base and insert wooden dowel

9. Attach Lid to Crypt Base by Inserting Dowel at the Bottom of the Base to hole in bottom of
lid and insert screw at end of paint stick to hole in center of lid

10. Turn on Disco Ball Motor
