Directions for Lemon Placemat
1. Start with a bare and round placemat. You want to work on a place mat, so you have some structure and sturdiness, and don’t just have a flimsy placemat.
2. Cut out yellow felt circle, using your placemat as a template. Hot glue the yellow felt onto the placemat.
3. Use a compass (or anything that will create a perfect circle) to draw a circle on the white felt, creating a circle that will leave a 1 inch border of the yellow felt. Hot glue the white felt to the yellow felt.
4. Use tape to divide your circle into 8 equal wedges. Using the wedge as a guide, cut out a smaller wedge using paper. Use this as a guide to create 8 equal sized wedges. Hot glue edges in designated areas.
5. Follow these same instructions to make an orange, lime, or grapefruit placemat. Just switch out the yellow felt with the color of the citrus fruit you want.
Directions for Watermelon Placemats
1. Start with bare and round placemat.
2. Cut out green felt circle, using your placemat as a template. Hot glue the green felt onto the placemat.
3. Use a compass (or anything that will create a perfect circle) to draw a circle on the lighter green felt, creating a circle that will leave a 1 inch border on the dark green felt. Hot glue the light green circle in the center of the dark green circle.
4. Follow this same process to cut out a smaller light pink felt circle and even smaller dark pink felt circle. Hot glue the light pink circle in the center of the light green, then the dark pink in the center of the light pink circle. There should only be a very small amount of the light pink showing, to replicate the rind of the watermelon.
5. Cut out black felt in the shape of seeds and hot glue all over the dark pink circle.
6. Optional: Go back in with green paint and create lines to replicate the outside of the watermelon rind.
