Ernie Hudson Interview
The actor visits with Debbie and Mark to talk about the upcoming blockbuster film, “Ghostbusters.” The actor also describes starring in the original “Ghostbusters,” which was released in theaters 32 years ago. He even reveals that when he was covered in “marshmallow” at the end of that film, it was really shaving cream. His role in the new version of the movie is completely different but that is all he can reveal. Ernie also discusses what it was like being raised by his grandmother after his mother died when he was a baby. She taught him that everything is possible in life.
DIY Burlap Christmas Tree
It is Christmas in July at Home & Family, so Orly is making her own rustic Christmas tree using chicken wire. Before getting started, she encourages you to make a sketch to follow. When you are done making the frame of the tree, add ornaments, lights, feathers and flowers to the tree to make your tree stand out. In the end, this entire DIY only takes two hours to complete.

Eggplant Parmesan
Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri of HGTV’s “America’s Most Desperate Kitchens” are both in Home & Family’s kitchen whipping up an Italian favorite, eggplant parmesan. The cousins also know a thing or two about cooking considering they have their own restaurant, “Talde” in Jersey City, New Jersey. They go on to explain that their eggplant parmesan is a big holiday staple in their big family. Today’s dish is a big hit with Home & Family.

Los Angeles Ice Theater
Ellie Kawamura and Patrick Leahy visit Mark and Debbie to talk about what it is like performing for the Los Angeles Ice Theater. Their performances recently won two medals at last week’s National Competition. Today, the two are performing on the outdoor ice skating rink that Home & Family set up in the backyard!

DIY Christmas Ghost Lantern
Paige Hemmis is making a fun DIY Christmas Ghost Lantern as a way of celebrating Christmas in July. She said it was one of her favorite tales, “A Christmas Carol” that inspired her do make this DIY, as well as her love for the Victorian era’s steampunk trend. She also encourages you to get as creative as you can when you make this at home. In the end, this entire DIY will cost you only $30. When finished, Paige presents her favorite “ghostbuster” Ernie with her lantern.

Adjusting to a Adapted Home
Marine Corporal Chris Van Etten is joined by his fiancee, Samantha, to talk about life after Chris lost both his legs to an IED explosion in Afghanistan. Today, Chris is the face of Jockey’s “Show ‘Em What’s Underneath” campaign. The campaign is Chris’s way of giving back and being a role model to others who have faced similar obstacles. Samantha opens up about her role as a caretaker in Chris’ life, this includes helping Chris with a cause that is close to his heart, “Homes for Our Troops,” which prepares homes for disabled soldiers coming back from their service.

The Science of Mochi
Dan Kohler is back in the kitchen preparing a traditional Christmas treat, mochi. He explains that this Japanese rice cake can be both sweet and savory, depending on what ingredients you use. Mochi is made with gluten-free rice that you can purchase on Amazon. When preparing the mochi, he reminds you to steam the rice before placing it in the mortar. Dan first discovered the science of mochi while on a rice tour in Japan.
