Wood Harris, a native of Chicago, holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Fine Arts degree from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. In 1994, Harris landed his first job in Jeff Pollack's urbanthemed sports drama “Above the Rim,” starring opposite Marlon Wayans, Duane Martin and the late Tupac Shakur. He subsequently appeared in a number of films and TV series and in 2000, co-starred opposite Denzel Washington in the inspirational sports drama “Remember the Titans.” That same year, he earned the title role in the Showtime biopic “Hendrix,” which detailed the life of rock legend Jimi Hendrix. “Hendrix” paved the way for other prominent parts, including those in HBO's “The Wire” and in director Richard Kelly's “Southland Tales.” Other TV and film credits include those in Fox’s “House” and CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O,” Bill Duke’s “Not Easily Broken,” Summit Entertainment’s “Next Day Air,” Lionsgate’s “Dredd 3D” and Jay Chandrasekhar’s “The Babymakers.” Last year, Wood starred as Harold Mitchell in A Streetcar Named Desire on Broadway.
