There is nothing like the smell of homemade banana bread, especially when you add handfuls of cran-raisins, nuts and chocolate chips. Bake this, add a cup of coffee or tea, and sit on the porch awhile!

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup Crisco® butter-flavor shortening OR 1/2 cup butter
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup cran-raisins
  • 1/2 cup mini-chocolate chips

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Lightly grease one large loaf pan.
  3. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda together.
  4. Cut in shortening or butter with pastry blender.
  5. Add mashed bananas and eggs.
  6. Stir in nuts, cran-raisins, chocolate chips or similar ingredients to taste.
  7. Bake one hour.
