Alejandro Albarracín spent his childhood in Málaga, where he discovered cinema at the age of 12. Every Thursday, he went alone to the Ronda film club. Some weeks they held Spanish or French film series.
He soon joined the high school theater group and later the renowned theater company in his city.
At 17 years old, Albarracin moved to Madrid to begin his training at the Royal Higher School of Dramatic Art, though he has never stopped learning. Some of his teachers include Fernando Piernas, Lorena Bayonas, Raquel Pérez, and Paz Del Moral.
Since then, he has combined his work in theater with film and television. He has starred in productions such as Ithaca, performed at the Roman Theater of Mérida and at the Teatro Español. He also performed in Tartuffe and Summer Follies at the Infanta Isabel Theatre in Madrid, among many others.
With over 20 years of acting experience, he has been part of the main cast in many recent Spanish productions such as Elite and The Innocent for Netflix, 4 Stars, Amar es para siempre for TVE, and others for which he is well remembered, such as Tierra de lobos, Gavilanes, and Los hombres de Paco.
He made the leap to international stardom playing Alfonso Di Calabria for two seasons in Borgia, a European production created by Tom Fontana and filmed entirely in English. In France, has filmed Respire, directed by actress and director Mélanie Laurent.
In 2024, Albarracin appeared in the eighth and final season of the Spanish series Elite, Netflix's longest-running and internationally successful show, and now in the final season of Sueños de Libertad (Dreams of Freedom) for Atresmedia Player.
He has had the opportunity to work in several countries. His most recent project was a Brazilian film called Mi amiga (My Friend), directed by Susana García.
He is currently rehearsing the play Phaedra in the hells written and directed by José María del Castillo. It will be presented this August, at the Roman Theatre of Mérida, as part of the Mérida International Classical Theatre Festival.
