(Makes 4 caramel apples)
Ingredients:
• 4 cold green Apples • 4 cups slivered almonds chopped coarsely • 6 Slices of Bacon cooked crisp and chopped small • 1 tablespoon of brown sugar • 3 sprigs of fresh thyme, tiny leaves pulled off (Chopped) • 1 bag of Caramel Apple Kit (16 oz.)– from Abdallah Candies (or use your own favorite caramel) • Sticks for the apples • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Recipe:
Prepare Almond mixture first, set aside
• In a bowl add the almonds, bacon, brown sugar and thyme mix well
• Pour onto a flat plate and shake back and forth to even the mixture out
Prepare Caramel according to package directions
To make the caramel apples:
• Dip the apples into the warm melted caramel covering the whole apple. Then gently roll the apple in the almond mixture ½ ways up the apple.
• Let caramel cool 10 minutes on baking sheet before eating. Slice and enjoy!
Note:
• The almond mixture can be stored in the refrigerator overnight. Keeps 2 days in the fridge. • Let the apples sit at room temperature for 10 minutes after you take them from the refrigerator to let the caramel soften.
"The Royal Steines Caramel Apples"
(Makes 4 caramel apples)
Ingredients:
• 6 Slices of Bacon cooked crisp and chopped small • 4 cups potato chips, preferably ridged, crushed • 1 bag of Caramel Apple Kit (16 oz) from Abdallah Candies (or use your own favorite caramel) • 4 cold Green Apples • Sticks for the apples • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper
Recipe:
Prepare potato chip mixture first:
• In a small bowl add the chopped bacon and potato chips, and mix them together.
• Place the mixture on a flat plate and shake back and forth to even out. Set aside.
Prepare Caramel according to package directions.
To make the caramel apples:
• Dip the apples into the warm melted caramel covering the whole apple. Then gently roll in the potato chip bacon mixture to cover ½ of the apple. Place on the cookie sheet with the parchment paper. Let caramel cool and set up 10 minutes before eating.
Slice and enjoy!
Note: It's better to eat the potato chip apples the same day so the chips don't get stale.
