Geena Davis Interview

The Academy Award-winning actress Geena Davis stops by Home & Family to talk about the upcoming 2nd Annual Bentonville Film Festival, held in Bentonville, Arkansas from May 3rd to May 8th. The entire festival is geared towards celebrating female and minority filmmakers. Geena is accompanied by one of her festival’s giant mobile theaters where the audience can watch the selected films. One of this year’s festival selections is Geena’s friend Susan Sarandon’s film, “Kid Witness” and brings a clip of the movie for Mark and Cristina to watch. The two actresses recently had a 25 year “Thelma and Louise” reunion photo shoot with Harper’s Bazaar magazine.

Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting - Home & Family

Chef Duff Goldman Bakes!

Chef Duff Goldman from Charm City Cakes is in the kitchen baking one of his most famous desserts, carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. Duff also has his own show on Food Network called “Cake Masters” and he shows photos of some of his most famous creations. Mark points out that the cake is pure without raisins and nuts and he approves. Duff recommends adding the the nuts on top of the frosting after you are done spreading the frosting on the cake.

Paul Blackthorne Interview

The actor talks to Mark and Cristina about his role as Detective Quentin Lance in “Arrow,” which has its season four premiere tonight at 8/7c on the CW. Aside from being in the series, Paul loves to travel and recently filmed a documentary in India, where he got to meet the Dalai Lama. Paul said he walked away from that meeting wanting to do more good things in life. One of his biggest passions is saving the rhinos in the wild and works closely with the Save the Rhino organization.

Betty Shaw is joined by her daughter, Elizabeth Shaw to talk about the dangers of texting and driving. Elizabeth is a national spokesperson against texting and driving, after getting in a horrendous car accident which was the result of her reading a text while behind the wheel. Today, Elizabeth is blind in one eye, has memory loss, has trouble sleeping, lacks sense of taste and has battled depression. Mark brings up the alarming fact that one out of four car accidents in the US are caused by texting while driving.
