Taste of Home Barbecued Burgers

"Taste of Home" Barbecued Burgers
"Taste of Home" contributor Hannah Williams steps into our kitchen to share a recipe from the magazine's "Ultimate Guide to Grilling" edition. This original barbecue burger recipe is compliments of Rhoda Troyer of Glenford, OH, who submitted it to the publication. Hannah first makes a barbecue sauce that puts all store bought sauces to shame! Perfect for burgers, ribs, chicken, and more, this condiment contains sugar, molasses, and honey, plus mustard for tang. Then, she massages wildcard ingredient liquid smoke into the meat, along with salt and pepper, oats to soak up moisture, and eggs to bind the patty.

Shirley Bovshow Plants Sunflowers

Shirley Bovshow Plants Sunflowers in Pumpkin Patch
Shirley Bovshow educates us on the symbiotic relationship between pumpkins and sunflowers. The two plants make great neighbors in the garden because they both require a lot of sun exposure and don't compete for the same nutrients. Plus, all the pests are attracted to the pretty sunflowers, thus leaving the pumpkin patch alone to thrive. The honey bees will also help to pollinate the pumpkins too. Shirley then explains the difference between sunflower seeds that you eat versus plant and teaches us the anatomy of sunflowers. She walks us through the planting process and discusses the growth rate and upkeep. We should expect to see sunflowers blooming in just 5-6 days!
