Ingredients
- 9 ounces watermelon
- 6 ounces strawberries
- 1/4 cucumber
- 2 tablespoons gin
- About 10 mint leaves, shredded
- Sea salt flakes
- Coarse black pepper
Directions
1) Cut the watermelon into thin triangles—each about ¹⁄8 inch in thickness. Hull the strawberries, and slice them thinly. Slice the cucumber thinly, too. Drizzle the gin over the slices. Finish with a small pinch of salt and pepper and toss together. Arrange the slices randomly on a large platter and serve, scattering over the mint leaves. If you leave this for an hour or so at room temperature, it gets even better.
2) f you’re serving this to children and can’t bear the thought of slightly tipsy, unpleasant behavior, substitute the gin for freshly squeezed lime or orange juice.
