Winner of "Food Network Star," Jason Smith is making a hearty pie with bourbon whipped cream.
Ingredients

Ingredients for Pie

  • 4 cups raw sweet tators (sweet potatoes), peeled and grated
  • ¾-cup butter, melted
  • 1 ½-cup white sugar
  • ½-cup light brown sugar
  • 1-cup self-rising flour
  • 4-eggs
  • 1-cup milk
  • 1-tsp cinnamon
  • ½-tsp ground ginger
  • ¼-tsp ground cloves
  • 2-tsp vanilla
  • 2-TBSP bourbon (optional)
  • 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • 2-cups whipped heavy cream for garnish (recipe below)

Ingredients for Bourbon Whipped Cream (Makes 2 1/2 cups)

  • 2-cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½-cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 TBSP bourbon
  • 6-strips bacon, cooked and crumbled

Ingredients for Pie

1. Preheat oven to 350, spray a 9x13 cake pan.
2. Mix flour, sugars and spices together.
3. Add the milk, butter, bourbon, eggs and vanilla stir to combine.
4. Stir in the grated sweet tators.
5. . Fold in chopped pecans to batter (optional)
6. Pour into prepared pan, bake for 40-45 mins.
7. The sweet tators will come to the top and be slightly crisp.
8. Garnish with bourbon whipped heavy cream (recipe below)
9. ENJOY!!!

Ingredients for Whipped Cream

1. Place cream and sugar in mixing bowl, with mixer start out on low until cream is thick.
2. Add the bourbon and turn mixer to high and whip until stiff peaks.
3. Dollop on top of any dessert and top with cooked, crumbled bacon.
4. ENJOY!!!
