Cristina's Lemon Thyme Martini

Recipe:

  • 1 cup ice
  • ⅓ cup limoncello
  • ½ cup lemon flavored vodka
  • ¼ cup simple syrup 2 sprigs thyme
  • Garnish
  • 2 lemon wedges
  • Purple sugar
  • Simple Syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon zest
  • 2 cups water

Non-Alcoholic Recipe:

  • 1 cup ice
  • 1.5 ounces lemon juice
  • 1.25 ounces simple syrup
  • 2 sprigs thyme
  • Garnish
  • 2 lemon wedges Purple sugar
  • Simple Syrup
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon zest
  • 2 cups water

Instructions:

  1. For the simple syrup: Combine 2 cups sugar, lemon zest, and 2 cups water in a heavy-bottom saucepan over very gentle heat. Cook until sugar has completely dissolved, stirring until the mixture is clear. Set aside or pour into jar to cool. You can keep the extra simple syrup in a closed container in your refrigerator.
  2. For the Martini: Place ice in a martini shaker. Add limoncello, lemon flavored vodka, sprigs of thyme, and ¼ cup of the simple syrup. Shake vigorously.
  3. Moisten the rims of your martini glasses with a lemon wedge and coat the rims with purple sugar. Strain Lemon­ Thyme mixture into martini glasses. Garnish each glass with a spring of fresh thyme and serve.
  4. For the Purple Sugar: Use a couple of drops of icing color to achieve color desired. Mix in a plastic bag with sugar. Add ½ teaspoon corn starch to prevent clumping.
