Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh (frozen if out of season) cranberries
  • 2 apples, peeled, cored and cut into small chunks
  • 1/2 -3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 jalapeños, finely chopped 
  • A couple of cloves (in a cheesecloth sachet so you can remove)
  • Zest and juice of 2 oranges 
  • 2-3 Tbsp Grand Marnier (orange flavored cognac)
  • ¼ cup Pecans, chopped
  • Pinch of Cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of Cayenne powder
  • Optional:
  • Pinch of Cinnamon powder
  • Pinch of Cayenne powder

Directions

In a medium saucepan on medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar, stirring, making sure not to burn. Carefully add grand mariner and cook the alcohol off. Add jalapeños and saute for a couple minutes. Add the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil and then lower heat and cook until cranberries start to pop and break down, add a few tablespoons of water if it starts to get overly dry. Cook approx 10-15 minutes. While warm, pour into small jars and flip the jars upside down. Add pinch of cinnamon powder & cayenne powder if desired. While warm, pour into small jars and flip the jars upside down.
