Ingredients for Cake
- 1 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups sifted all purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 can (I pound, 6 ounces) cherry pie filling
Ingredients for the Topping
- 2 tablespoons butter
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup flour
Directions
1) Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy
2) Add eggs and beat thoroughly
3) Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well (Batter will be very heavy)
4) Spread about 3/4 of batter into a 9 x 13 by 2 inch pan
5) Pour pie filling down center of batter
6) Spread filling over batter gently, using spatula
7) Drop remaining batter from a spoon over filling
8) Spread gently and swirl over all
9) Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle on top
