Charcoal Ice Cream and Vegetable Sprinkles
Dessert chef Maria Kallas is making a healthy dessert and explaining the benefits of charcoal.


  • 6 egg yolks
  • 4 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup of sugar 
  • 3/4 t salt
  • 4 T activated charcoal powder
  • One 14oz can of condensed milk 


Scald cream, condensed milk, salt, in a pot. Whisk egg yolks and sugar in a separate pot until frothy and sugar is dissolved. Temper cream into egg mixture by whisking slowly and continuously. Add charcoal and whisk thoroughly. Let it cool and set overnight. Churn in ice cream maker.
