Multi hyphenate actor, producer, writer, and director, Sarah Drew is best known for playing Dr. April Kepner on nine seasons of the hit ABC series Grey’s Anatomy and Hannah Rogers in Warner Bros’ Everwood. Drew now stars in and executive produces the hit series Mistletoe Murders, which just aired its second season on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark+. She reprises her role as Emily Lane in a series that blends the intrigue of a classic action mystery with Hallmark’s signature charm.
She will soon portray Hedda Hopper in Jimmy, an upcoming biopic about the It’s a Wonderful Life legend, also starring Jason Alexander and KJ Apa. Drew’s additional TV credits include Freeform’s hit series Cruel Summer, recipient of the Hollywood Critics Association Award for Best Cable Drama Series, and the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series Amber Brown, written, directed, and produced by Bonnie Hunt. In 2022, she received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for her lead role in Lifetime’s Stolen by Their Father and produced and starred in her writing debut Reindeer Games Homecoming as part of Lifetime’s holiday slate.
In 2023, Drew released four films in 2023, producing and starring in Lifetime’s The Girl Who Caught a Killer, starring in Sony Affirm’s Birthright Outlaw, and Hallmark’s Guiding Emily. She also wrote and executive produced two Lifetime feature films: A Cowboy Christmas Romance (2023) and A Carpenter Christmas Romance (2024), cementing her reputation as a trailblazer in the network’s modern, romantic holiday genre.
Behind the camera, Drew made her directorial debut with Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team the Webisodes, which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series. She later directed a radio play for LA Theater Works titled Fever Syndrome, released in March 2024.
In film, some of her notable credits include her debut in Columbia Pictures’ Radio alongside Ed Harris and Cuba Gooding Jr., the lead role in Sony’s hit comedy Moms’ Night Out with Patricia Heaton and Sean Astin, and producing Indivisible with Provident Films, in which she also starred alongside Tia Mowry.
Drew got her start in the arts at a young age before booking the lead role of the critically acclaimed production of Romeo and Juliet at McCarter Theatre Center, an award-winning regional theater, in her fourth year of university. The opportunity catapulted her career, opening doors thanks to rave reviews by critics. She went on to make her Broadway debut in Vincent and Brixton, a classic play based on Vincent van Gogh, at the Lincoln Center Theater, then London’s West End, before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television and film. Drew is a devoted wife to Dr. Peter Lanfer and mom to her kids Hannah and Micah and currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
