Emilie de Ravin is an Australian actress who grew up in Melbourne. She started her career in the performing arts as a talented and budding ballerina and attended the prestigious Australian Ballet School. As a late teen she switched her focus in the arts field to acting.
De Ravin first broke out as an actress with a starring role on the Australian fantasy-drama Beastmaster. Shortly thereafter, she landed a lead role of alien Tess in the hit series Roswell. After 2 years on the show and notable guest appearances on NCIS and CSI: Miami, de Ravin then signed on as a series regular on the Emmy-award winning ABC series Lost, playing Claire, a young Australian who gave birth on the mysterious island and keeps a close relationship with Charlie, played by Dominic Monaghan. She then moved seamlessly on to play Belle on ABC’s hit series Once Upon a Time, putting a new twist on classic fairytales opposite Robert Carlyle as her beast, Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin.
De Ravin has shown her versatility by also branching out into film, making her debut at Sundance in 2005 with the award-winning neo-noir film Brick, which was written and directed by Rian Johnson. She has also starred in the remake of The Hills Have Eyes, in crime drama Public Enemies for director Michael Mann, in the romantic drama Remember Mealongside Robert Pattinson, and The Submarine Kid opposite Finn Wittrock. Most recently de Ravin starred in director Roland Joffé’s A Lover Scorned for Lifetime.
