Nancy learns that the mayor has suffered a heart attack and immediately takes charge of the emergency. Determined to keep the town safe, she ventures into the storm, urging everyone to seek shelter.
At Gus’s house, a tree branch crashes through her window, forcing her to get out of bed. Meanwhile, Amanda and Sergio prepare the restaurant for a possible tornado, while Mae confesses to Jay that she doesn’t think they should marry.
On the road, Frank Jr.’s car stalls near the train tracks, and he abandons it to run to safety. Back at the restaurant, Amanda reassures Sergio that everything will be fine.
Nancy patrols the streets, scolding stragglers to get indoors. Gus calls for Nancy’s help but instead finds Frank Jr. inside her house. Across town, Nancy discovers Christian hiding under the counter at the Cluckery. She confronts him for stealing her recipe, but he panics and begs her not to leave him. In desperation, he admits the Cluckery is bankrupt.
Reluctantly, Frank Jr. helps Gus down the stairs to safety. Mae, meanwhile, tells Jay he should leave her because of Mimi’s curse. She reveals her father has abandoned her again, convinced the curse is real, while Jay dismisses the idea.
Safe in the cellar, Frank Jr. frets over his mother’s whereabouts. He and Gus trade sharp words about the past, with Gus admitting it broke her heart when Amanda married him.
Amanda, seeking calm, asks Sergio to share his hushpuppy recipe. He opens up, revealing it was his late mother who taught him to cook before she passed away when he was only eight.
Nancy presses on through the storm, helping townspeople reach shelter. She eventually comes across Frank Jr.’s abandoned car, which only deepens her worry. Back in the cellar, Gus challenges Frank Jr. to think about what his mother truly wants, reminding him of her kindness and selflessness.
Jay tries to convince Mae that the curse is nonsense, arguing that men of the past were the real problem. Mae insists she’s just like her father, Clayton, but Jay disagrees, saying he sees more of Gus in her. In a heartfelt gesture, he proposes again, declaring he wants to spend his life with her. Mae says yes. With the storm intensifying, they realize they can’t stay at the Chicken Sisters and flee for shelter.
Gus and Frank Jr. soften toward one another, both acknowledging mistakes and loneliness. Gus admits her daughters fled from her as quickly as they could, and Frank Jr. agrees they both need people in their lives.
Mae and Jay make it safely to a storm shelter. Amanda and Sergio hunker down at the restaurant.
At last, Nancy returns home and is overjoyed to find Frank Jr. waiting. He offers a long-overdue apology.
When the storm passes, Amanda, Sergio, and Frankie survey the heavy damage to the Chicken Sisters. Pauline texts Nancy with an “all clear,” and Nancy instructs her to turn off the siren.
But relief is short-lived—Mae and Jay emerge from their shelter, horrified by what they see outside.
