Dorothy is in a serious relationship with a lawyer who's decided that he's leaving law to become a circus clown. Guest Stars Dick Van Dyke.
Rose has been dating, Miles Webber, a college professor. But when Miles invites her to a party, Rose feels like a fish out of water surrounded by all his intelligent friends.
While Lorelai deals with rebuilding the inn, Rory schemes to give her mom a great birthday party. Meanwhile, Luke confirms his suspicions about Jess skipping school are correct.
Lane's rock band debut ends badly when the animosity between Jess and Dean results in a fistfight. Meanwhile, Lorelai serves on a committee and is uncomfortably reunited with Max.
After the brawl between Jess and Dean, Lane is in trouble and Luke is furious at Jess. But ironically, Lorelai is proud of Rory. Later, Jess ponders a major decision.
Jess travels to Venice, California where his father, Jimmy, lives. The reunion causes tension with Jimmy's girlfriend. Also, Lorelai agonizes over paying for Rory's Yale education.
Kyra is upset that Reba will not get her a cell phone so she starts being close to Barbra Jean.
Reba and Brock attend a party out of town for what they think is a party for an old friend. Turns out it is a funeral for that friend.
Jake likes a girl at school. Brian asks Reba out for Valentine's day but she is nervous and pretends to be sick.
Reba has to deal with two dentists arguing-her boss and Brock.
Brock's mother, Grammy Hart, comes to visit and Reba is surprised when her former mother-in-law is nice to her.
Van and Cheyenne reconcile with Van's parents. The parents give Elizabeth a pony and want to babysit her overnight.
Blanche is visited by her brother in-law and is taken back by his resemblence to her deceased husband. She quickly finds herself falling in love with hopes of marriage.
Dorothy finds a list of things that she wanted to accomplish and finds that she hasn't accomplished many of them. So she decides to go after one of them, entertaining people.
Dorothy's son, Michael, shows up with news that he's separated from his wife and needs a place to stay. However, Dorothy quickly gets tired of his freeloading.
Blanche is shattered after her father, Big Daddy, passes away. However, she gets into a big argument with her sister, Virginia, and decides not to attend the funeral.
