Signature Style by Hallmark Cards

1 of 4

If you ask artists what inspires them, many will tell you that inspiration comes from the things we experience in the world around us! For this design challenge, a group of designers used gorgeous Hallmark Signature wedding cards as inspiration for place settings. Hallmark editor, Signature team member and first time contributor, Meg B., tells us all about the varied choices the designers used to create these elegant tablescapes.

Place Settings from Wedding Cards
It’s wedding season! And the Hallmark Signature team is feeling the love and inspiration! Signature’s own Mandy F. designed three gorgeous wedding cards featuring distinct style trends. We must admit, we’re crazy about weddings. But we also know not everyone else shares that mindset. Jessie L., a designer in Hallmark’s visual merchandising department, came to this realization when her sister got engaged. To help smooth the process (for both her and her sister) Jessie created this amazing “don’t freak out, we’re here for you” gift bag to give her sister. We thought it was such a good idea that we asked Jessie (long time reader first time contributor) to share her idea. Happy Planning! (Or not.)

Gift for a Bride to Be
As soon as my sister announced her engagement, I went into over-planning, design-thinking, inspiration-gathering mode. In my mind, this was the best way to help her begin the journey of planning her wedding. Believe it or not, not every person out there planning a wedding finds it fun, or inspirational, or a bonding experience between sisters. It isn’t all “pin this” and “save that” or “this is perfect!” I quickly learned that the wedding planning process felt daunting to my sister. There are so many options out there! The truth is, sometimes our non-DIY-loving friends and family need a little help from us crazy crafters.

Where did the idea of forming 100 Layer Cake come from?
We were all three working as designers and spending a lot of time reading blogs! Two of us had recently planned our weddings and saw an opening for a more curated, design-influenced take on weddings and parties online. We had lots of ideas, but decided to launch a blog first to join the online community and generate interest for our point of view. As luck would have it our blog became a business of it’s own!
