Born in Brooklyn, New York, the actor, producer, and NYT Bestselling author, Steve Schirripa, is best known for his portrayal of Bobby “Bacala” Baccalieri on the critically acclaimed HBO series The Sopranos.
More recently Schirripa starred on the long running CBS series Blue Bloods, in the role of Detective Anthony Abetemarco and was a series regular on ABC Family’s The Secret Life of the American Teenager. This year, he can be seen on the series Dexter: Resurrection and made for TV movie Sisterhood, Inc. on Hallmark.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Schirripa has become a well-known figure in both television and film, including roles in Wonder Wheel and Kill the Irishman. Schirripa also appeared in Jersey Boys and Hereafter both directed by Clint Eastwood. As a regular and favorite guest on TV talk shows, he became a special correspondent for The Today Show and The Tonight Show, which led to hosting and producing a number of shows like Steve Schirripa’s Hungry, Investigation Discovery’s Karma’s a B*itch! and the ID series Nothing Personal.
In 2020 Schirripa debuted the Talking Sopranos podcast with co-host and fellow actor Michael Imperioli where they offer fans behind-the-scenes stories and deep dives into the show's legacy. The podcast, a success and Webby Award winner, turned into a book called Woke Up this Morning: The Definitive Oral History of the Sopranos and made The New York Times Bestseller List. Schirripa has written several books, including the Goomba's Guide to Life series and Big Daddy's Rules: Raising Daughters Is Tougher Than I Look, where he shares his experiences and reflections on life, family, and fatherhood with humor and sincerity. In 2005 Schirripa entered the world of the Young Adult genre and authored Nicky Deuce: Welcome to the Family, which was later adapted into a film by Nickelodeon. His upcoming children’s book, Willie Boy Eats the World will be released later this year.
