Barbara Alyn Woods is beloved by audiences around the world for her unforgettable portrayal of the delightfully unhinged Deb Scott on One Tree Hill. What began as one of television’s defining dramas has grown into a lasting global phenomenon, continuing to captivate new generations through streaming platforms, fan conventions, and one of TV’s most passionate fan communities.
A Chicago native, Woods launched her career in the city’s acclaimed theater scene. After earning the title of Miss Illinois Teen Talent, she began performing professionally while studying theater at Northern Illinois University, laying the foundation for a career that would take her from the Midwest to Hollywood.
Soon after arriving in Los Angeles, Woods booked her first television role on Star Trek: The Next Generation. She went on to build an impressive body of work with memorable appearances on some of television’s most beloved series, including Married... with Children, The Golden Girls, Seinfeld, Wings, HBO’s Dream On, Murder, She Wrote, Desperate Housewives, and David E. Kelley’s acclaimed dramas Picket Fences and Ally McBeal. She also starred in Disney’s Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show.
Her feature film credits include Flesh and Bone opposite Dennis Quaid and Striptease alongside Demi Moore. Among her favorite co-stars was “Barbie,” a 50-pound python she still remembers fondly.
Woods is especially proud of her three daughters, who have followed in her footsteps. She played the mother of her real-life daughter Natalie Alyn Lind on The Goldbergs, later appeared opposite Alyvia Alyn Lind in the cult-favorite series Chucky, and most recently joined daughter Emily Alyn Lind in the independent feature Pretty Babies.
Now, Woods is embarking on an exciting new chapter with her longtime One Tree Hill co-star and close friend Paul Johansson. Together, they host the upcoming podcast (Not) Over the Hill, sharing behind-the-scenes stories, humor, and perspective to audiences in an entirely new way.
A lifelong Chicago Bears fan and devoted supporter of the Chicago Cubs, Woods is especially thrilled to star in Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story. The project brings her career full circle, to the teams and city she has loved from the beginning.
