Canadian actor, director and producer Colin Ferguson is best known for his starring turn as Sheriff Jack Carter on Syfy’s “Eureka.” He has appeared in over three dozen television series and films, including the American remake of the British hit sitcom “Coupling,” Universal Pictures’ 2007 film “Because I Said So” opposite Diane Keaton and Mandy Moore, Syfy’s “Haven,” TNT’s “Major Crimes,” The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” and, most recently, “Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove.”
Born and raised in Montreal, Ferguson got his start as a member of the Montreal improv group “On the Spot.” Although he is most recognized for his starring role in “Eureka” from 2006 to 2012, his many television credits include the mini-series “Armistead Maupin’s More Tales of the City,” TV movies “Inside the Osmonds,” “Daydream Believers: The Monkees’ Story,” “Americana” and “Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber,” a lead role in the TV series “Then Came You” and guest-starring roles on “Becker,” “Titus,” “The Outer Limits,” “Crossing Jordan,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” “My Boys, “CSI: Miami,” “Happily Divorced” and “Major Crimes,” to name a few. In addition, he starred in the feature film “The Opposite of Sex,”
alongside Christina Ricci, Martin Donovan and Lisa Kudrow. In 2011, Ferguson was a guest presenter for sci-fi news show “Hydraspace.” He also served as producer and director on nearly a dozen episodes of “Eureka” during its six season run.
In January 2014, Ferguson became the latest actor to portray the iconic “Maytag Man,” starring in the appliance brand’s comedic commercials.
